Demobit 2019 Resolution - 1st - 3rd February 2019 - Binarium, Bratislava, Slovakia
category: parties [glöplog]
The number of casualties increased to four now, then, I just got slapped with it in the face as well. Still worth it! :P
Everyone seems to be suffering from the Slovak Flu, although that chili didn't go down well with me either.
It's five now. Anyway - what argasek said. It was worth it :) Thank you all guys !
Finally, I'm capable of writing after the whole ride.
Sadly, life situation switched so dramatically right after the party, that there been no time yet to digest how the whole party went.
Right after, while unloading the stuff, Magdalena and I were struck with the whole new situation.
My father's health went downward in a few hours to a critical point. Redefinition of matters in the millisecond. Luckily, the adrenaline gave us the power to act in states of total tiredness.
Now I'm with my parents and taking care of my father with mom, sister, and Magdalena. It seems the worst is over for now and we do visit a specialist tomorrow, we will see.
But back to the party. Hopefully, we executed on an acceptable level of professionalism, and you felt we did our best to stand behind our promises.
I must admit, that on Thursday the things looked quite bad. One integral part of the whole presentation was delayed for weeks while trusting a person to stand behind his words.
The amount of stress related to this unprofessional act cost me a ton of wasted energy in the most challenging moments. Lesson learned to be uncompromising on such essential deliveries. Friday evening I just found myself burned out and hardly capable of socializing.
That's what I miss from this party a lot. Meeting everyone and talk to friends I haven't seen for long. I even didn't meet Ferris in person.
Never again I'll take on me so many diverse parts in the whole project.
Thanks to Argasek for helping to save our reputation in the critical moments I had on Thursday. The time spent on fixing that was surely missed the other days while preparing with care the executable compos.
Amiga demos got recorded on HDMI recorder which records audio in two mono tracks instead of one stereo.
Last year we spent 24h to reencode all demo captures from 2mono to stereo, to replay them correctly. In the stress moments at the party, when I spent 1h making the recordings and re-encoding, it slipped
my mind I had first to make this conversion. Plus I knew only audio from my demo, so I missed it in quick test :(.
Besides that, I found combining all executable compos in one block quite good. It was a forced change, but I think the result was great.
I hope it didn't cause any problems to others.
In the excellent moment, Skyw (co-founder of Demobit with Infi & me) showed up fresh to solve beamers profile to make all contestants happy.
Hope you loved the selection of performances and diversity of speakers. It was delightful to see the rise of quality in real-time releases.
We recorded the whole show, and I will put them after a reasonable while online as done before.
Wobble, don't hesitate to get in touch with me to obtain complete Logicoma recording. I haven't loaded HD yet, but all should be there.
Thanks to everyone who came or followed the party over the weekend. Thanks, everyone from the team who invested the energy and time to push Demobit to a higher level.
I wish to write more and give kudos to everyone namely. Now I need to take some rest and help further my family. I'll get back asap to after party matters or delegate what's possible.
I wanted to drop a note I'm still on the ride and not knowing what will come tomorrow. But there inside I have encapsulated a joy we shared the moments we had together.
Take care all and hopefully see you in more relaxed states on some other demoscene events this year. But first things first.

zden. really. my thoughts are with you and if i could, i would send you energy to recharge your mental batteries. I hope your father gets well soon and you get a break for a while.
regarding demobit:
you did a fuckin great job.
i organize festivals, concerts jobwise and revision at easter - i really know how hard it is to stay positive when you are in production mode and for every fire you killed, two new ones light up. What do you think where my grumpy image comes from? ;-)
Doesnt matter if its 200, 2000 or 20.000 Visitors.
You want to deliver the best possible experience for everyone.
And thats what you did: you delivered perfect.
this party was legendary.
your team was amazing (and probably the best looking infoteam i´ve ever seen) and you all created an atmosphere which still warms my heart.
you were amazing.
^^Acceptable...?
No. It was way more.
I bet the venue may be a bit small in future...

Zden,
Hope your father gets better soon. Although I personally wasn't at the party the livestream viewing at home was excellent, hopefully as I said in my earlier post my wife and I will make the trip over to a future Demobit party.
Cheers,
Felice.

Hope your father will be OK. the party was great indeed!
I wish your father a speedy recovery. Regarding Demobit, I think the ambience was on a par with major demoparties and the videostream was great (the audio issues were minor problems). You did an amazing job considering that you managed to organize a party releasing a prod simultaneously.
Hopefully your father will remain OK. My own father died in 2013, aged 70.
only got "some" of the stream-experiences as a sofaskener...

Adok: video or it didnt happen
zden, thats really an extrem turn after the party. I hope your father gets well soon.
Congratulations, Adok. Our beloved leader will be proud of you.
That said, it may be worth to try out some more "conventional" conversation starters, like "Hello, how are you?", or "What's your favourite 64k?"

I'm sorry Zdeno, hopefully your father is OK soon!

Alive after the flu. Amazing demoparty, lots of amazing demos, great people and a amazing Logicoma set. Thanks to everyone who organized the party and made it what it was!
@Adok: Nice photos!
Now I got the flu too. Seems things work a bit slower for me.
