Hi everyone,

I'll be starting a new job within the next 2 to 3 weeks in Berlin and am currently looking either for a room where I can pay rent to be there until I find my own place (currently in the Netherlands) .
A post address where I could write in would be totally amazing as well, of course I would cover any costs this can incur.
A lot of official things need me to have an address to get started.

If anybody from the scene has any tips or knows anyone they could ask then it'd be greatly appreciated.

My German is pretty bad and google translate isn't nailing it, but I can't see anywhere that I can use these rental places as an actual address to write in. Any help with finding that out would be really appreciated.

I'm not sure which part of it you're having trouble with but the contact details are on the left side (Kontaktinformationen):



And the address of the place to be rented is at the bottom of the page, within the Google maps widget thing (you may need to click a button in it labelled "Karte einblenden"):



"Kalischer Straße 24" being the street address and "10713 Berlin" being the zip code, of course.

if I got andr0 right, he's looking for a postal address where other people can write to and that mail would be forwarded to him. Kind of like a PO box with forwarding. In German: "Deutsche Lieferadresse"

if with "write in" you mean the dutch "inschrijven", that's indeed not possible unless you either buy a house/flat or rent one with a regular "mietvertrag" (which usually involves 2/3 months upfront). you can't make use of "paketbox" or other similar services from official postcompanies without being registered/"ingeschreven" either. huifkar is different, they'll give you a valid "lieferadresse" based on your dutch address. but you can't claim that address as residence, of course. hope it helps :)

Couple more things. The magic word for finding a room is "Wohngemeinschaft", or short, "WG". There are several sites where you can find those, the biggest one being https://www.wg-gesucht.de/wg-zimmer-in-Berlin.8.0.1.0.html. For most offers a longer-term commitment is expected, but there are always a few short-term offers as well.

Getting an appointment with the city can take a long time, as the institutions are notoriously overloaded. So do make an appointment as soon as possible. Don't worry about it too much though, for most stuff (health insurance etc) just any address will suffice, those institutions generally don't check whether the address you gave them is an official (Meldeadresse) one.
