Revision 2018 - 30. March to 2. April - Saarbrücken, Germany
category: parties [glöplog]
no size fits all
No size limit for the bigscreen.
Flights booked, rental reserved at FRA - me +1 on the way :)
Our competition rules are online.
Like always, there are categories for music, graphics, demo, animation and all the usual stuff you're used to. Only small changes have been made since last year - nevertheless please check out the "New & Noteworthy" section.
Moreover the first version of the timetable is online. Want to know when your entry has to be done, or when you need to be in front of the big screen? Then have a look!

Coming to Revision by plane via FRA, HHN or LUX?
Then you can register for an airport shuttle organized by us.
Don't be too late; because once we fixed the shuttle sizes, seats may only be available when you're in luck to catch one of the leftovers. Registration deadline is March 2nd.

No alcohol. No booze. No Finns.
Just revision.
Just revision.
need more info on the sleeping room (capacity, what's supplemented, noisy/quiet, etc.)
sleeping room is right behind the stage / main PA installation and as such potentially quite noisy 24h/day
capacity is first come, first served, usually it doesn't run out completely or ppl sleep under a table instead (=same comfort level)
what's supplemented-> dunno whatcha mean here :)

thanks
supplemented: heard of some parties stacking up on some thin mattresses, but it's probably not the case here then.
still not sure if i go, considering my options. i would hate to blow off a f*ckton of money on a hotel if sleeping conditions are OK, but considering it's behind the PA, it would probably be the sensible choice.

nagz: there's no matresses indeed, but some ppl sleep on the kuschelstufen in front of the stage, and it's possible to buy rather cheap airmattresses and sleepingbags in semi-local stores ( https://www.action.com/de-de/p/intex-luftbett2/ for example ). oh and that PA remains silent every day from ~4/5/6am in the morning (aka: when the dj runs out of records or the dancefloor gets too empty) until noon sharp, jsyk :)
I’ve been using the sleeping area several years and in my opinion it is better to sleep behind the pa than in the hall (when we’re talking noise level)
That said, Revision is one of those parties where it’s difficult to find a good spot to sleep.
Last year was first time with a hotel for Easter - it was nice and quiet, didn’t sleep that much more though :)

Massive improvement quality-wise though. I also enjoy not having to get dressed to take a shower when waking up :)

"Not having to see other people all the time" is good enough reason in itself. :)
Hotels at demo parties.. go to bed drunk at 5AM, wake up at 8AM to make sure you don't miss breakfast (and nearly fall into the canteen), then head down to the party in a rush because your release failed to upload the night before.
given some thoughts to it. nearby lodging would be overpriced for my purpose + i may not fancy a 10-12hr long car ride. plus - most importantly - i will go to Finland in early May so better save up more for that trip instead. but i will try to enter at least a song remotely if possible ;)
have a good one!
have a good one!
Aww, Revision doesn't do remote entries tho, so have someone hand it in for you!
So it does have remote entries :)
Well, yeah.. but it involves some extra planning :)
extra planning is never a problem. the whole central european demoscene is in my pocket!
Shader Showdown 2018: Call for participants!
Revision is proud to invite you to the fifth edition of the world's premier live shader coding competition.
On Friday and Saturday, March 30th and 31st 2018, in the E Werk in Saarbrucken, Germany, starting at 22:00 CET, seven contenders will get the opportunity to challenge LJ, the reigning, defending and undisputed Shader Showdown Champion of the World in a single-elimination tournament format.
Do you think you can viciously beat LJ for the championship? Do you think you can bring something to the competition in 25 minutes that we haven't seen before? Are you a former competitor who is out to take revenge? Are you a newcomer with an original approach? Or are you simply a coder who likes a challenge?
If the answer to any of those questions is "yes", we'd definitely like to hear from you via hotline-2018@revision-party.net.

No shaders, just Revision!
Ah, sweet. Sent.
nagz: if you don't bring a bigass inflatable mattress and capture a place with it behind the PA immediately at the start of the party, then you have no chance getting in there later. I tried every year, but had to fall back onto or under the "kuschelstufen". If you go to sleep late then even those get full and then it's wherever you find a spot on the floor that's not too cold and people are not walking all over you :|
no sleep in saarbrooklyn!
sleeper in saartropolis?
