Amiga OCS vs Amiga AGA (020)

category: general [glöplog]
Thanks to Algorithm and Tomaes for the 'select random colors' hint.

*THAT FEELING* when random colors are as good as your slow AF algorithm though..

After getting a bit better results in the color reduction. This is how it looks with 11 color changes per line and 256 color base palette and applied env to the palette colors based on the reduced normals. In this mode, the texture is not limited to 16x16 size as with your straight to the point color cycling. I can see a 30 fps goa demo on the horizon using this technique.

The head reminds me of Artwork's The Gate which had a really ugly one. :)

My head is actually Cheetah / ephidrena. He used himself as reference for the statue objects in Lux Aeterna. I've messed up the model by careless use of smoothmesh though.

The Gate probably used straight c2p/lut style in 256 colours though. No copper stuff Or colorcycling I think. Although only Azure knows :)

Yeah pretty sure it was a 16bit LUT with a scrolling texture. Maybe a rhino next?

That psychedelic rhino might be palette based instead of chunky. But wasn't it quite slow? If it was just palette it just needs shading 256 entries so should be 50 fps or so.

LUT or unrolled loop + C2P I think. With 2 16 colour light sources. There's also the crossfade between the models during which only 1 light source is shown.
