Should demoscene be explicit or P.C.?

You don't really have a point, do you?
Gargaj: go figure.

Oh man. You are literally torturing yourselves. You (as a demoscene) seem to be all fine and rather civilized. Maybe a bit nerdy and socially awkward, but nothing else.
Yeah thank you for reminding us that you are a normal person and we all are freaks and need to get out more.
And "rather civilized"... as opposed to who exactly?
cant watch this because "This video may be inappropriate for some users."

I figured it a long time ago. Your posts either just try to pit groups against each other or show contempt for the scene in general - why, I don't know.

i have stopped going to local hip-hop "scene" events because i couldnt stand the general behaviour towards women, gay ppl, and everyone who didnt conform their twisted views. you will not find that kind of behaviour on a demoparty, ever.
Gargaj, kb_: I'm your average nerd and proud of it, hence lurking on pouet. In fact, I just care about technical aspect of it. But I was in artistic school long time ago, which I actually quit and switched to comp.sci. Now I am even barely in touch with this community. But let's say those people were quite "free" and "open" and not making a fuzz about it.
@groepaz: i've seen and heard about some really vile attitudes towards women that want to be democoders, extremely dismissive sexist remarks and general putdowns just because of their gender. Just because you don't see doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
visy: this guys are actually "socially retarded" (not literal meaning!), let's face it.

In the past, sceners brought their girlfriends to demoparties and went into trouble when they were exposed to the real thing. Nowadays people bring their children and do the same mistake again. Ah, wait, i brought my son as well to some parties. It worked out well in the end, despite the boobs i drew.
Nope it did not. Your boobie trap was not successful enough in hiding THIS REVEALING EMBARASSMENT ;>

All of this is nowhere near modern theatre with sometimes very explicit and bold political statements, disturbing scenes, nudity and so on. And that is considered actually as an art.
Or degenerate art. Though I´d rather call it boring predictable wannabe-provocation like prepubertal youths like to do it - with the exception that the young ones are more realistic in seeing it just as funny jokes for themselves rather than socially relevant contributions.
Actually, the general consent at revision and other parties is pretty sane: Do as you want, but don´t overdo it ("vomit on the floor").

I think you miss the point. Human nature shouldn't be a taboo topic. In fact, many of those "jerks" that enjoy demos with disproportional jugs should rather watch this kind of art to grow up, i.e. perceive nudity and humanity in a more mature way.
I only insist on small breasts in my demos.

groepaz: *cough* Breakpoint 2004 *cough*. Shouting "Ausziehen" at arguably the best graphics programmer in the room was a low point.

Also not accurate based on accounts by several females who have attended demoparties.

compared to what i have witnessed at said events, i'd consider that puny and cute.
tomkh: Showing nudity, bodily functions, wearing specific uniforms, mimic specific kind of todays outcasts or whatever generic steoreotype over and over again is similar to showing cubes, rasterbars and scrollers all the time. Neither artistic nor mature, just self-centric and of little value to the outside world.
"There are always bigger assholes" is a complete non-point tho.

I'll just repeat this because QED:
My biggest fear about the whole PC/anti-PC debate is that we focus so much on the extremes that we become desensitized to the actual problematic shit that's happening.
I think we can all agree that bigotry has no place in the demoscene, just like it has no place anywhere else.

The problem is that some people feel that "Don't be a bigot" == "everything must be hyper politically correct"

sure. however, there is always a context and always an intend. the crowd at BP was just trying to be funny (not very succesful perhaps). also the fact that you have to remind us of something that happened over a decade ago shows that the problem isnt quite as big at all :)
gröp: Die Szene ist tot und früher war alles besser!
