Please help me decipher this crash
category: general [glöplog]
I make this humble plea to any technical minds and experts on Pouet to help me with a problem.
When I run certain applications, including Theta by Farbrausch, the visuals crash and the machine locks up.
It looks like this:
Now, when I do a hard reset, the PC starts booting up with these same crashed visuals!! The only way to get rid of them is to power off the PC and turn it back on?!
My video card (Geforce 4200) works ok on other PCs, so I think that's ruled out. I called loads of technical support lines and online experts and nobody has ever seen this before.
So has anyone here seen a crash like this and know what it is?
Thanks. You're humbly and sensibly.....
Shane

You could try:
- upgrading drivers
- degrading drivers
- returning to original RAM/CPU/GPU clock settings if you have overclocked anything
- getting better cooling for CPU/GPU or anything with a fan (or just remove dust from it and the radiator)

There's probably something wrong with your computer.
Otherwise it's the software.

the first photo looks like a plush chair cover to me... :)
You know, I'd offer some advice, but then I'd be breaking my prime directive: never take a Shane-thread seriously.
this is what my screen looks like!?!
plzzzz heeeeeeepplll?
pegasus : pray ! :)
Shane : save all your datas to CD / DVD and clean your whole computer case. Use safemode, uninstall your drivers, install the latest drivers for your card. If it's not Ok, well you have a hardware problem with your screen or your ram or your mobo. Reset BIOS. If it doesn't help, format your hd, reinstall windows and drivers. #Still not working ? Sorry your RAM or your Mobo or your screen have a problem, check them one by one and get rid of your problem : buy a new PC :)

Brilliant advice, ep!
you can never format hd and reinstall windows one too many times ;)
Shane: you only need to root out the troll inside you.
