Can we get "best russian scene drama"? I don't understand it, so I feel like I'm missing out.

Was already proposed last year by keito and Kylearan at:

well, I kinda figured that Best of the Worst would naturally accommodate scenewar productions too

True. Didn't notice that, so nevermind. Translations still needed tho.

While we are at it ... BEST POUET-TROLL?! :)

No, seriously ... I was thinking about a »Test Of Time«-award for the best prods of the last decade or so. But then I realized that the nominees would be the usual suspects aka Pouet-Top-10.

You really want something like Golden Raspberry Awards, don't you.

They're getting there:

BEST OF THE WORST
The "anti-reward" - a critical award pointing out the worst of the demoscene

Hopefully there'll be a Walk of Shame too.

If they do it the trophy should be made of foam rubber. :)

CATEGORY SUBMISSIONS CLOSED

The deadline for submitting award categories is over, and we ended up with 29 candidate categories thanks to your creative and wild ideas! Check them out: https://www.meteoriks.org/categories

There are a lot of really good ideas in there, and we're happy to see that they go far beyond the usual party categories of size and platform. It's going to be an interesting awards process!

BECOME A JUROR

We can't have all these categories in the awards show, of course, so we'll have to whittle them down to about ten-ish.

Do you have strong opinions on which category should make the final cut? Do some of the categories resonate with your taste in productions? Apply as a juror! You don't need to be a certified demoscene expert(TM), an opinion is all you need -- and we can really use the help.

The deadline for juror applications is on Monday night, Jan 23, 23:59, so drop whatever you're doing and apply here: https://www.meteoriks.org/taking_part/juror

The team is there to repair stuff like that.

Yep, no worries - the team of jurors have the final say om the categories, and they can add categories as well if important ones are missing. :)

Or we do away with cloning the usual compo categories altogether and take our pick from the (if you ask me) pretty good ideas we already have.

when you will give us the nominees?

a bunch of usual/traditional categories as kinda fixed ones sounds like a nice idea since they will be submitted anyways along with the others. this years list of categories is quite nice :D
demoscene award without a demo award ^^ nice concept :) :)

I think that some 'key categories' should be always the same.
Frankly, I don't understand the idea of selection of all categories each year.

Traditionally, Public Choice has always been a kind of parallel "best demo" category (but with a less arty and more populist slant, and the possibility of being won by an intro or oldskool prod), so I don't think omitting "best demo" as a category would be the massive bombshell that it sounds like. It would just mean that Public Choice becomes the "flagship" category.

(disclaimer: this is a hypothetical discussion. Nobody has said definitively that there will be no "best demo" category. REMAIN CALM.)

In due time. Keep calm and make a demo about it.

I think the opening of the submissions must be before that.

To clarify: All jurors will now decide on the final set of categories. Once they have done that, the categories will be published and people can start recommending productions for consideration as well as vote for the Public Choice award. A short time after this phase has ended, the nominees will be published. The winners will be announced during an awards show at Revision 2017.

Does that mean that jurors have been chosen and notified yet? Because I neither got a mail telling me that I was accepted as a juror, nor that I was rejected.
