Turn down the bass?! Would be better just not having any night acts then :S

Nothing quite kills my mood as having someone tell me to turn the volume or bass down, that is for damn sure.

Aside from discussions about Bass; whatever happened to the splendid showerheads that were installed last year ? It was divine, like a tropical waterfall (imagine cheesy dance videos), and this year suddenly the old half-dysfunctional heads. Please don't tell me that some dickhead visitor of the AHK stole them ?!

Solution: Everyone brings their own showerhead next year!
*notes: pack fancy showerhead w/ fixation for Evoke*

a demoparty has to be loud.
otherwise it would be called demosanatorium.

Thanks, I was also wondering. Those videos weirded the fuck out of me on Sunday morning.

Late thanks to the orgas and visitors by the way, it was a fantastic party once again!

I have to agree about this group of people with their huge f*cking sound system. I was in the same row as them at Revision 2015, and there it already irritated the living crap out of me (and I actually almost lost my shit there and swore at them).

It's so dumb that we sometimes had to move to the outside or somewhere else entirely to continue our conversation just because people 20 fucking meters away decided to be dicks and sport a sound system almost as powerful as the official one.

Hell it even was easier to have a conversation right next to the speakers at the party tent outside because they weren't remotely as loud/annoying.

Instead of sitting an hour in the noise to then burst and start swearing at people and come on as a dick, maybe just talk to people that bother you immediately. Sceners are usually nice people, and don't mean to annoy you but just want to have fun. If that fun is going at your expense, they'll gladly turn down the volume because you should be able to have fun too!
as TropicalTrevor said why you just did not tell them that something is bothering you???

Total aside, but sounded amazing for a single cab.... Had a beast of an amp feeding it tho.

As numtek, I found the people in the hall with their way-too-loud sound system quite annoying. But I also failed to simply walk over and ask nicely to turn it down a bit, so I don't really have much right to complain I guess. ;)

I did, was met with little to none understanding. [...]

People who recklessly turn the volume up, are also reckless with people who complain.

Evoke 2016 was a great party and I was pleased to be part of it once again, as my previous visit was to Evoke 2007 back when it was held at the Vulkenhalle in Ehrenfeld. The AbentuerHallen is certainly a much better venue though - much more atmosphere and friendly people around too, which helped a lot.

Now I'll make a bit of a confession here - I was one of those with the loud soundsystem there - though I was mainly playing stuff from Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Jean-Michel Jarre and a few others, as Alpha C and others will recognise me playing similar at Outline. I wasn't in the group that was being loud nearby with their system though. Hopefully noone was offended by the volume from my system during the party.

The loud group didn't offend me personally - but I know if I had been asked by other sceners to turn the music down a bit I'd have done that without any problem, but was never approached as far as I can recall. I did tend to play * some * of my music during quieter times between compos and / or liveacts, but I'll bear this in mind. Am planning to be back for the 20th Evoke though in 2017 and hopefully stay a bit longer in Koln either one side or the other, as my wife and I would like to see something of the city and visit the famous Dom cathedral.

See you all at Evoke 2017 !!!

Nah, I think the group we all mean are the same (east german?) group of people who bring huge speakers literally everywhere they go.

Partymeister/Screens feature request: Live dB meter display of the hall during off-compo times. Bonus: Big alarm sound from the real PA as soon as a certain loudness threshold was passed.
