Evoke 2016 - 12-14 August - Köln-Kalk

category: parties [glöplog]
Great party. Great people. Great weather.

P.s
If anybody found my glasses (not sunglasses, black frame) which i probably left at the mens toilet on sunday morning while switching over to contact lenses let me know :)

I completly forgot to say I was pleased by the cool lights that were hanging in the hall which had a nice moving color pattern!

As numtek, I found the people in the hall with their way-too-loud sound system quite annoying. But I also failed to simply walk over and ask nicely to turn it down a bit, so I don't really have much right to complain I guess. ;)
Haha same here. It wasn't that annoying and I hate to spoil a good party and it looked like they enjoyed themselfs. If it reached critical annoyances levels I would have said something. Spending some time in a hall togheter means making compromises, I deemed unfit to point out the obvious, and it got turned off everytime before any serious could boil so yeah.

@LMan ... I HAAATEEEEEEEEEE you for that ear worm ...
Was a great party with a lot of strong releases and great people. A unique and enjoyable middle ground between full on party and family gathering vibe.
I'm just (once again) a bit sad that I was mostly occupied finishing my release and missed/discarded some opportunities to socialize with some of you guys.

Much love goes out to anyone who attended and the organizers who not only organized a great party but also welcomed me hanging around / lending a hand during the teardown letting me get that last bit of cozy family vibe <3

Looking forward to see any of you at the next occasion!

Final verdict: 10/10 will code here again :)

This year I had to party twice as hard because I missed last years evoke. It worked!

I tried something like 0.65*Revision and I still ended up feeling terrible. I might switch to soda, water and regular sleep some time.

Also, Evoke was my first party in the 1990s, and it still delivers.

numtek,

what you wrote about loudness is true. And I personally didn't find it that intense at Evoke this year. But I've been running around a lot and didn't have to focus that much on working.

But, the same thing applies for Revision like five times as much. Can you please remember your annoyance and take it into credit for your own event? ;)

The inescapable amount of constant events from all directions with at best a break from 5 in the morning to like 10 is a real stresstest.

True enough. Outline is loud (hell I woke people up at 6 AM with a set, to name just one of many of my auditory trespassing); I'm okay with the noise, it's nowhere near as terrible as our own Takeover parties et cetera and not as boringly silent as French parties like LTP once were.

Awesome party. Had a big blast this year.
A bit too much krawall for me on Saturday resulted in (un)fortunate loss of new "SPYKLADD" footage...oh well. Thanks to all organizers, new and old friends I hung out with. You Rock!

Personally I kind of like the onslaught of loudness at all times, it adds to the party spirit and the extra hurdle it presents for sleeping is still more humorous to me than it is annoying.

Not too happy tFt managed to botch the new SPYKLADD entry; the franchise deserves a new quality entry from the master himself.

Also, did someone spike my drink with LSD or am I growing brain lesions? Was hallucinating colors all of sunday night, fractal patterns in the dark, and I kept jarring awake because my body refused to breathe without manual intervention from my conscious brain. Still worth it, though.

Can't wait to see you lot at TRSAC.
And finally: boo, LNX, boo!
boo brain!

Could it be that the animation-entries are missing from the scene.org-folder?

Great party, great people - great weather which also took me a bit by surprise thanks to the weather two days before Evoke - but that's something one really shouldn't complain about. ;D

High-quality compos with many entries, meeting new and old friends, and the bouncy castle just made it a perfect party.

However....
BB Image
Graphicians! You are the only people who never get this right! Fix your goddamn entry filenames! :P

Apart from that, one demo entry (Naturally Undead) and a couple of 4ks seem to be missing from scene.org, and sos' almost-4k entry is found in two folders (intro_4k, being the only file there, and in64k), hope this can be fixed.
"but_brainkaos.gif" surely doesn't belong into the interactive compo folder, too.

Good point! :)
After I kept some high quality artists awake with my set during Revision a couple of years ago I changed for the better. Now every year I'm walking towards the sleeping area at nights and check for the volume. Since it is mostly bass that travels so far and annoys people I try to turn the bass down for nightly acts, and ask for feedback on volume levels the next day.

Also I kind of stopped doing all nighters with hardcore acidtekno, iirc the last three times I did that I switched to jazz and instrumental hiphop. See? I do learn :)

Luckily Outline has a seperate sleeping building :)

Well worth it! But I know the problem: I've spent too much hours tweaking stuff this Evoke as well. Happens more often than not. Atleast I ran into you at some occasions. Let try to have our releases done beforehand next time, so we can all drink some more beer together!

I used to pull all weekend coding sessions up until 2003, I'm done with that shit now. And that 6 AM set was in Eersel, I remember a *very* annoyed Okkie emerging to ask what the f*ck as wrong with me :)

Turn down the bass?! Would be better just not having any night acts then :S
