Assembly 2016?
category: parties [glöplog]
Yeah my schedule is also quite difficult to work on a demo. Real danger Ivory wont finish dos demo in time. 12hours more to deadline would help a lot.. :/
To every running late, remember that you can submit your prod ( in some OK ) state by the deadline and update it until one hour before the compo jury starting. See Schedule at http://www.assembly.org/summer16/program/schedule/.
P01 it's no use. Oldschool jury starts one hour after deadline
bummer :\
These deadlines hurt a lot indeed. +24h, even +12h could make a huge difference for entry quality :/
The deadlines are unfortunate, but they're the same for everyone. Hopefully we can be a bit more flexible next year.
As a result, this must be the first time I ever finish a release before the party.
It's wrong and you should feel bad!

urs: just upload a party version and than:
"Entries can be updated until one hour before the compo jury starting."
See Schedule at http://www.assembly.org/summer16/program/schedule
solution for everyone to enter after the 'early' deadline(s) ?

how about just considering the deadline as an actual deadline?
How about starting your prod a day earlier and shut the hell up? :)

Doesn't work with Oldskool compo, Deadline is 12:00 and Jury starts immeaditly after that.
The PMS submission page said something about 14:00 for updating the entry, but by then the jury is already over. So probably the system will allow you to perform an update, but it won't do much. I'm going to sleep now, I hope the silly thing works on the compo PC.
dos demo 99% done
but i have to go to work and 1% is really important but would take an hour to fix.
no demo.

Yzi: we went sleep about the same time as u. Woke up just 50mins ago after 4 hours of luxus sleep, still 2+ hours to deadline *naputi naputi*
Submitted entry 11:59 :p
I'm with Gloom. If you are just 2h, 6h, 12h late than just start earlier.
The thing which we're missing with this evil deadline is PARTYCODING. It's so dull to go to the party and just wait for the compo when u submitted your prod already at home. Panic coding in hotel or partyplace brings up the real atmosphere! :)
And it doesn't matter if u start 2h 6h 12h or 480h earlier, when making demos all the problems and new mods and and and .. everything stacks up just right in the end.

Also having deadline-jury-recording in a row gave no testing time at all with compo machine at all and result is sync issues :/
Also, not every group has the ability to meet up and finish a release together before the party, especially if the group is distributed geographically.
While we have most code done beforehand typically, finishing direction and looks is usually done *at* the partyplace, with the whole group together.

- one at all :)
Very "nice" attitude from compocrew.
Asked earlier in the morning is there possibility to test demo in compo machine to get some info about sync and debug prints = no.
Asked if its possible, after the jury (which reported sync issues), to fix sync so it runs smoothly with compo machine (basicly asked +2h more time) = no.
Apperarantly Amiga makes it possible, but this is PC. Our test rig runs stead 70Hz, compo machine does not. With Amiga it's same hardware all over, PC is little bit kinky when all the different gfx cards use their own "close but not the same" timings.

I take one issue back, we got one more chance to test with compo hardware! Hooray compocrew :)
My sincery apologies for my outburst towards compocrew, specially britelite and jope. Very tiresome week behind us and everything almost collapses nearing the deadline. Demoscene can be very stressful hobby. Guys are doing awesome job anyway, hopefully next year rules and deadlines can be more flexile.
Sorry guys.
Sorry guys.
Big screen not completely visible from old skool places... Sigh
