Photo/video consent at parties
category: parties [glöplog]
I made a 640x480 resolution time lapse using a webcam (First device running in the hall, last device down in the hall). As far as I could tell from the potato quality it is unlikely to identify anyone without context. And even if, the resolution is so low that you cant tell any details. This vid is on youtube, but currently not listed. And I hesitate to make it really public in the wake of the discussion here...
If you can't tell the difference between yourself and a tuber in the video I think releasing it is probably fine.
;)
Back from holiday/post-Solskogen emotional black hole ;) I understand Gargaj's sentiment here, and I support lug00ber's approach to the situation.
Norway has the same laws as Germany in this respect, and even though we've always assumed that people knew how they worked, I feel that adding a disclaimer to the Solskogen ticket sales site makes sense. Not because "it's a cowardly blanket disclaimer", but simply because we actually have new visitors every year, and not all of them come from a background of attending demoparties. What we are okay with and take for granted might be brand new to them.

Well, this guy did sign full consent, but now he regrets ;)
He's a millionaire, I doubt he minds.

Indeed, one feels soiled if one cannot afford to pay a poor person to feel for them...
So potato quality it is then: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkqlvruoVM0

Some events in the hacker/maker scene have a small dedicated "no photo" area for those that really don't like having their picture taken which is separated from the main space by some kind of curtain and clearly labeled. Obvious drawbacks: it splits the event in two and while grabbing a beer outside, everyone is fair game again. Also, at a demoparty a curtain is probably not an option anyway since being able to see the bigscreen is kinda the point. Not sure about this.
