Looks like the well known Kefbars to me in that intro. Now i am curious who came up with these.

The name was made up for that bootblock intro indeed. As an effect, it refers specifically to self-shadowing Kefrens bars. I thought that would be clear from the readme. :)

Some people might have misused the name later on, but that does not change what the name was made up for.

Ah. And now it seems I've continued that misuse. So, to be 100% clear: Wayne bars are your take on the Kefrens bars effect. What I'm asking, then, is:

A lot of the old farts around will happily tell you that they are Alcatraz bars.

We used to call them "vertical rasters". 1989 is really early, so maybe Alcatraz bars! rudi can upadte his list of FXs.

As the A.R.B. :P already said, they are actually Alcatraz bars, Metalwar FTW! \o/ The reason why most people refer to them as "Kefrens bars" is because Detron/Kefrens made an into with a similar routine which looked really nice and so most people thought he invented the effect called it it Kefrens bar. And they were all wrong of course! :P

Well, I'm a bit embarrassed... Of course it's Alcatraz bars, and seeing it again triggered a deja vu of having checked the origins before, right here on Pouet. I think the mystery just consists of having found it out and now needing the info again and having the name on the tip of my tongue but being completely unable to spit it out ;)
