So I got in on the train and told my story to the conductor(this is a Danish train), he said he'd speak to his colleague at the other end in Hamburg but for now I can at least get to Hamburg....
Whether I'll be stuck there is still uncertain.

Good news !
For those other sceners who are also staying at the Ibis, I can report that there are * no * roadworks on the streets around !! Very easy to get in and locate the hotel from junction 16 on the 620 autobahn. Simples - turn off the autobahn at the exit, turn immediately right, then take either the first right, go to the end of the street and turn left, then right and you'll be outside the hotel, or take the 2nd right from the Eisenbahnstrasse and follow the road straight across :)
Myself and my wife, Rainbowchaser, are settling in - hopefully we'll see some of the rest of you either tomorrow or Friday morning in the breakfast area :)

ok, trainjourney from zurich starting tomorrow. gonna pop by at the party on friday shortly - but for the most of the time me and my better half gonna take some time off... and then, saturday/sunday/monday, i'll be in party mode! =) so much looking forward to seeing many old friends (and making new ones) after ~four years easter party absence!
