Revision 2015 - 3rd to 6th April - Saarbrücken, Germany

category: parties [glöplog]
Weather looks to be like at home, only some degrees higher. So no big deal for finns at least.

Weather was really awesome two weeks ago. Now it's just meh. Let's hope for the best...
Airport Information now available

We again prepared a PDF with all the information you need. Download it here:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/166337/Revision/2015/fra_overview.pdf

The pickup point stays the same, so if you've travelled with shuttles already in previous editions of Revision there is no big news for you :)

Boardgaming sounds fun, but it sounds even more fun if we play something like Power Gri, especially with the German Map as an added meta joke. I'm not too interested in the other, lightweight, games for Thursday night, but might be during the party itself.

Power Grid is a bit big to haul from Norway (and might take a test run to learn, unfortunately). I can bring it though, if enough people are interested..

(We're also in Crystal)
I dunno, you might find some of those you're calling "lightweight" can be quite fun. :) Though I agree there's not a whole lot to The Resistance, but enough to be fun for a group once or twice in a row.

I've played Power Grid twice before but I don't know that I particularly dig it. I've also likely forgotten all the rules. You can bring it if you want but I have no idea if we'd play it. May be better just to save on the luggage space?

Would someone mind checking the hotline e-mail? I sent something. Thanks.
So I finally got in contact with DB and the only way to change the Debit card information WAS TO CANCEL AND REBOOK! With current prices included of course.

And she was adamant that the ticket wouldn't be valid and they couldn't do squat to make sure it became valid.

I think I just have to put my faith in the the good graces of the conductors hopefully they can allow discretion now such bureaucratic assholery.

Lol, never put your faith in german conductors, or actually anything DB ever. It's probably the worst train company i've ever travelled with (and that includes the privatized mess that is the UK railway system)

Good luck!

A friend and I were travelling with outdated identification information on our tickets last December. The conductor simply told us to update it before our next bookings in ze online system… Simply say something like "Oh, I switched to a new bank. Seems like I forgot to update the information in the online system. But hey, I have a passport and a valid ticket…" or simply tell them the truth... Unless the conductor is a complete dickhead it should be totally fine. Even If you get a ticket for fare dodging, you can still try to argue with DB at a service point or via mail about it.

in my experience, DB conductors are far more friendly than their Dutch peers. :P
Going with the FlowerSFX mobile from Sweden in 2 days gonna be awesome :)
As a foreigner you´re on the happy side:
As long as you don´t speak german the unfriendly part of the staff tends to getscared away from you since they don´t speak english, and the friendly part sees a chance to help a pitty visitor from getting lost ;)

BTW... never noticed the conductors checking any card information, just the ticket itself. in some cases they might check for id card (e.g. for non-transferrable flat rate or discount tickets), but that´s also pretty unlikely.

Well, no big deal. Upon my experience all the ticket conductors were friendly and happy. They check the card you've used for ticket booking, some kind of ID proof.

As for DB then - top notch service, IMHO putting all the other services into shame. Also nice trolling - I've bought a online ticket from Milan to Salzburg last year on DB website, had it delivered by post and saved as a souvenir. Nobody could understand wtf is this ticket about and either I'm legal on the train on what. But it looked official, so ticket inspectors in three countries (Italy, Austria, Germany) just looked at it briefly and gave it back to me with 'whiskey-tango-foxtrot' face. Should opportunity arise, I'm buying this damn ticket again through DB :)

Definitely (: when traveling to Ghettoscene last year, my train was delayed and I missed my connection to Cologne by half an hour. Found another train going there, just asked the conductor "is it ok with this ticket" and she said "yes" and brought me to a non-reserved seat (:

Generally, if you're polite you'll get a long way. I guess maybe it also helps that I at least try asking in german, somehow they seem to appreciate that even though they always quickly switch to english :P

Blueberry / Starchaser: Your mails have arrived. We're currently busy getting ready for everything so communication is a bit slow. I'll see to it that we'll answer you before we're going to the partyplace.

Hi Blueberry, as luck would have it: I wrote you a week ago, did you get the mail or did I use the wrong address? No problem if you don't have time or the answer is no, I'm just curious if it arrived.
