new C64c cases manufactured with the _original_ mold - kickstarter
category: general [glöplog]
Seems pointless. It's just the casing, and only c64c cases too. I can paint that shit myself for less money.
If they'd offer keycaps and cases in a wide variety of colours, maybe I'd be interested... if they offered a breadbox model instead of a c64c (which is a ridiculous waste of deskspace).

Waste of deskspace? I personally prefer the flatness of C64C, it was much nicer for coding. But hey, whatever makes you bounce. :)
It was a nicer keyboard yes, something you only realised after going back to the old one. I hear you can put old or new PCBs in the new case btw.
Lol, there is nothing c64 related you can't pander to old schoolers 😆 good for the dude to have 18k now I guess.
Albeit how cool a white case is, having one really makes you wish someone would do keyboard cap replacements too.. :)
They should make the CPCng. Then I would shut up and give my money.
Most of the "retro revival" projects that appeared are uninteresting. A Spectrum that is like the old spectrum but less keys. An expensive netbook with C64 caching. Some other revivals that are really an ARM soc with emulators. This one too.
But if they made compatible 8bit, with many many extras, maybe.

I backed for a bright red one \:D/

I dunno, I feel this is at least a (relatively) useful project compared to, say, http://www.givingshape.it/#!commodore64/c1b3j, in that it's contributing towards the actual older hardware (that may have been subject to wear-and-tear over the years) as opposed to just wrapping the logo on something unrelated like so many things.
Lol, That phone looks terrible.
That new housing is pretty cool.
Wow, 35 bucks (+shipping) for a 1$ piece of plastic. The only excuse is the small scale production in the US and maybe some really nice finish. There might be legal issues here aswell.
Also, grey or black would have been interesting options. If only to get the aesthetics closer to a PLUS/4, which was probably the best looking 8-bit machine.

Do you remember the 1980s and the Commodore 64? Now you can get those moments back with the new organic Commodore 64
Exactly like you remember! Also available directly on YouTube, so you can enjoy your high-quality organic 1980s retro experience even on your mobile device.

Holy shit, I'm not the only one! :D
I painted my C64C case black few weeks ago. Total cost: about $6.
blah blah been there blah blah done that blah blah
apparently the guy also came across the C128 and Plus/4 molds, although he doesn't say (yet) whether he bought those too.
