My Demoscene MP3 albums
category: music [glöplog]
Don't get me wrong, the collection is very nice, but the artist and title fields should be filled properly, with demo/group info provided in the comment field.
Cheers Tomoya.
I could still do that, I only uploaded my files directly with rudimentary MP3Tag changes, there's nothing to say I couldn't spend an afternoon modifying them - I would still like to keep to a single case per field, mind.
Except... where can I reliably find this information?
Can't help with the question, but thanks - dl/ded and I think I seeded till 1:1. Happy to seed more if needed. House to myself tomorrow so mplayer --shuffle * it is!
Foebane72: This information should be in the files right from the start. And if it isn't, read the .nfo coming with the demo (or watch the credits sequence if there is no .nfo) and fill in the artist name. It's really not that complicated.
Sorry, didn't think about that when I started recording them in the Noughties ;)
It would take ages to correct that mistake now, if I had to watch the demos that lacked information in text files. But then I didn't think I'd be sharing these files with anyone back then.

I keep my music collection maliciously tidy, why you want caps for one field and lowercase for another baffles me, I honestly couldn't download a collection like this in its current state. I have all the demoscene tracks I want already, from demo mp3s to mod chiptunes and everything inbetween, tagged as completely as I can.
I hope you consider a different tagging convention in the future, but as you say that's a lot of work to start from scratch.

lol damn autocorrect, i meant meticulously obviously :)
Also, I don't want to mock what you have already done, clearly it's your personal collection and you thought you would share it to others, which is great, it's just not for me that's all, if others find it useful then more power to you.
It's not so difficult to retag them if you want to, Mp3tag is the best tool I've ever, ever used for such a task, and believe me, I've tried others.
I stick to one case per field as I've come across many commercial albums (classical, pop, rock, etc) that are totally lacking consistency, and if there's one thing I hate it's capitals where there should be lower-case and vice versa, so I decided to just eliminate the issue of case altogether - after all, the Ancient Romans never needed case, nor do I! ;)
Maliciously, LOL.
Well, I figured I'd share it with others, if anything to give people some ready-made recordings and ideas for album art and organisation. The problem is that my naming method will not appeal to everyone, nor will my choice of particular prods which I consider my favourites, but others won't necessarily.

Well you have one of my tracks in your album collection, but as you haven't tagged any artist fields I bet you don't know which one it is ;)
Lack of such information is surely not gonna appeal to a lot of people, but some have jumped on your torrents already so i'm sure more will also.

Forgot to mention, there's ReplayGain tag info in the MP3s, produced by my favourite PC music player, Foobar2000. Just so's you know.
nice collection, a lot of my favourite demotracks are in there :)
i agree that having the individual artists and the group in the tags would be more convenient (and also fair to the musicians) but i understand it grew as it is and you wanted to keep the scheme once you set it up.
just wanted to let you know its appreciated anyway.

For anyone who's interested, I also have 12 "tracker mod" albums, each containing nine tracks as the demo albums do, but again randomised as I find it easiest to organise that way.
If anyone is interested in these "tracker mods", let me know.

+1 for foobar, best music player ive ever used :)
Please seed! 😜
94% done. Thanks so far, although it would be really nice if someone would seed that last 6%.
