Moroder's video - what the hell is that
category: general [glöplog]
Hi,
I just saw this:

I have no idea who this "directed by Jai Lewis" is (other than he put some lame filters on a bad rendering of our demo "Spin"), and definitely nobody asked for my (or any other ASD member) permission. What the fuk !?

...well that puts everything in a whole different perspective...
heh, so it's demoscene content stolen again.
Hahaha, oh my god, this is bizarre :D How does he think he get away with that exactly?
I know this is a long shot but maybe someone else from ASD gave permission?
SUE THE SHIT OUT OF THEM NAVIS! TAKE ALL THEIR MONEY!
*facepalms*
*popcorn zeit*
vice.
of course.
of course.
While I cannot check that somebody else has given permission, I really don't think so. There have been a couple of cases before when some guys wanted to make a video for something (for free) so they asked permission that was sent, by email, to me and amusic; but we'd always ask each other. I mean, the guy would have asked us for a clean HD version, so it wouldn't be as simple as yes/no.
Very bizarre... I'd like to get in contact with this guy and ask what the situation was/is with this- his contact seems to be
https://www.linkedin.com/pub/jai-lewis/44/1b2/6b2
but no email as yet

now, ask for Moroder to give you a track for your next demo.

Uuuh, why not?
We will find from amusic because apparently he made a contact, but he'll tell us in more detail (in here).
Haha, amusic just ran with the money son! He'll post an update from the Bahamas! :D
Oh this is priceless.

:D
Didn't amusic do the music that got swapped out for the moored track? I'd say that's pretty priceless.
(fuck yeah, Mac OS X autocorrect - Moroder is definitely Moored)
Worst case: No money, "it was free on youtube", etc.
Funny, when I saw the video posted yesterday, I was all like "this is bloody familiar".
Exchange your decent demo soundtrack for terrible EDM by a guy who last produced something relevant ~30 years ago -> profit!
Ok, let's clear this up. Jai Lewis did contact ASD back in July through our facebook page and asked for permission to use Spin for Giorgio Moroder's "world your video djin gig" .
I handled the response and told him the same thing that we tell everyone that asks permission to use our visuals or audio in projects which is that we give usage permission as long as the the end product is free to view/download and that sufficient credit is given to ASD for the content used.
He said that "they" will honor our usage terms and also asked for a high-res video. I directed him to the executable, so the capture is his.
I was under the impression that this would be used as VJ material during moroder's tour for a particular track, and there was no mention of content usage in a CD cover or an official video clip.

Oh, and there was no compensation involved whatsoever.
...and Navis wasn't told of any of this? :)
Ooh boy.
