Demokerho - a demoscene club for everyone interested in creating demos

category: general [glöplog]

Demokerho is a demoscene club, sort of a computer club for demosceners. Our goal is to encourage and help new and old people interested in the scene to make demos, and help better comprehense difficult demoscene subjects. For Demokerho we get premises that are near perfect for demo making and other scene activities. In Demokerho we don't have school like lessons but visitors and organizers may choose to help those who need help. Occasionally Demokerho will have presentation speakers who will introduce cool ideas and tips for demo making.

When and Where?
On Sundays(check the calendar on the site for more information and for pocancelationslations) from 5 to 9 pm, in Nuorten Toimintakeskus Happi(Sörnäisten rantatie 31, Helsinki).

Does this cost anything?
No! It's completely free. Nuorten Toimintakeskuste Happi provides the premises for Demokerhos use for free. Organizing is done also by voluntary work.

Do I need my own computer?
No you don't. We have plenty of PCs with GeForce GTX 560-video cards. But If you want to bring your own laptop that's fine too. btw. Note that premises must be drug free.

Both Finnish and English languages are used in Demokerho.

Currently we have three organizers for Demokerho: me, Kitai and Atomimalli.

We are looking for new organizers!
Since my life is becoming busier and busier I'm stepping down from Demokerho organizing, unfortunately. I'm still going to occusionally help Demokerho indirectly. Therefor we need new organizers for Demokerho. If you are skilled and willing to teach newcomers please contact us on #demokerho@IRCnet or message me personally.

Next Sunday around 6pm visy^trilobit will be having a seminar about REPL, which you should come and see!

Demokerho was founded at last altparty by Joonas Mäkinen. But afaik Joonas was too busy at the time so me, Kitai and Atomimalli soon had to take control Demokerho. We've been having 5-12 people at every meeting(except the last sunday since it seems everyone was having their holiday trips then). For our Demokerho Invitation we built our own demotool called Cerho which is very easy to use and is for the most part compatible with Shadertoys inputs. All you need to know with Cerho is some GLSL and how to use json files! It's also open source so feel free to improve it.

It's a great kerho, defly I recommend visiting if you live in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Last time there was only branch and me, so more attenders wouldn't be bad, I guess :D

Just observing that there could be some synergy between you and that Graffathon - maybe the people who want to continue after the event could be forwarded there?

Voikos tuolla Shadertoylla tehdä 320x200 glenzin? HD glenzit näyttää tyhmältä :D

With Shadertoy, Is it possible to make an oldskool 320x200 like Glenz without any processin effects? So it looks like an old skool style glenz :D
