it's a bit strange that "Second Reality 2013" isn't in the list.
it placed 1st at the Sillyventure 2013 party, was #1 in the top of the month from the start till the end, is 28th in the Pouet's top list 2013 and #1 in the top #5 Atari ST prods 2013 at Pouet..
'nuff said.

Rez: that's how it goes sometimes :)
Lsl: since it's a port of an existing demo and from the source made pd (and thus not even painstakingly recreated from scratch) AND there was plenty of other prods to watch we just skipped it. Personally I think eg. the VCS demo in top13 was way more impressive.
Other stuff we skip are eg. single screen (C64) scrolltext-only prods and slideshow-ish demos regardless of platform. No point in wasting people's time on those as there are better things to watch. I often do encourage people to enjoy such prods alone by themselves :)

@el-bee: pretty sure there's not THAT much actually ported code in it, as the video stuff is very much different. Anyway, doesn't really matter much.

LOL?
The most stupid sentence I read in 2014 so far..
yeah, that's some pretty terrible reasoning
No excuses needed for excluding Atari!
Having spent some time with the 2nd reality codebase, I have hard time believing that it could be used for anything, let alone being portable to a wholly different system.
Atari ST port was done nearly 100% from scratch. (the pictures were taken from the web and converted and modified to 320x20, 16 colors by mOdmate.
We didn't even reverse-engineered the original PC-demo, f.e. all Offset-maps were calculated with own C-code and I tried to match the best result compared to the PC-version.
About the music: Especially for this port was an own tracker/music-player been written, I made a XM->Checktrakk converter, with the resulting files being heavily edited & instrument adjusted by Dma-Sc.

320x200 even :)
The code has clearly not been ported, unless we're heavily re-defining the usual meaning of the word.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porting
If you don't use any of the original code, then it's not a port of that code. Maybe it could be called a "recreation and adaptation of previously implemented visual ideas" or something.
What comes to the music, it is clearly an arrangement of Purple Motion and Skaven's compositions.

Unfortunately there's no corresponding word for visual stuff.
Myself, I wouldn't have left out Second Reality 2013. If you watched demos in 2013 but decided to not watch that one, then you missed out on things that were discussed in the scene. I wouldn't have voted it very high, but it was a somewhat notable production last year.

my god, they left out a demo?!?! the demoklubi awards are even less serious than the DUB awards
Lsl: lucky me there's still plenty of 2014 to go :)
I'm sorry for my lack of technical knowledge. It's reasons like this why we have people like Visy, Truck and Urs attending the sessions.
Being the person responsible for compiling run lists for the sessions, the initial decision to leave your prod out was of course mine. But it's not like any of the attendees actually pressured "we _so_ have to watch this prod!" (does happen), despite knowing of its existence and party rank.
Guess you can conclude none of the people who attended is a fan of Second Reality.
Britelite: Really hoping you'd find the time to attend too, being a member and all.. You could've been there to stress the point that we have to watch this.
nic0: DUB awards does certainly have a way more stylish logo!

el-bee: I didn't say you had to watch it, I just commented on the reasoning for leaving it out ;)
To support el-bee, I'd instantly skip and demoshowing that features whichever rendition of Second Reality. It's just, well, gotten *very* tiresome. We know $PLATFORM can do Second Reality.
skrebbel: :)
