I've been in academia for five years, with publications and all that. But since I haven't finished my PhD, I guess I'm an academic lamer. :p Now that I've given up (pursuing a PhD isn't very compatible with having a family), I finally have the time to become a productive member of the demoscene! I would like to lose one "lamer" title after all... :)

Maali, that is what I wanted to say. You have manners like a child and yet you are going to become a PhD. Do your thesis supervisors read what you write on pouet.net? I seriously wonder whether you would have been accepted for university here in Austria...

what does anything i write on pouet have to do with my thesis? and well, evidently an Austrian university accepted you, so you should bring to their attention that there are severe flaws in their selection criteria or they are too incompetent to google your blog.

Speaking as someone who regularly evaluates grad students to vet who could potentially offer a phd-screening position for, I would say that "posts a few strange things on a webforum" pales in comparison to "contributes and brags of contributing to a magazine with unsourced crackpot essays, that looks like a very ill clown with no sense of symmetry ate a kilo of M&Ms and puked onto the pages." The impact factor of this magazine is zero since it's not a scientific magazine. It is a magazine made by friends of mine, who are very nice and not-so-stupid people, and that's why I support it.

Whoever wrote this must be a genius.
