How can I add this Demoscene prod to pouet?

category: general [glöplog]

This Amiga demo has an ADF somewhere on the internet for free, but I'm wondering why it's not on Pouet.net when it's blatantly a Scene prod:

So how do I add this prod to Pouet.net?

in the bar at the top you will find the "Submit" option.
Then "What do you want to do?" -> "submit a prod"

I look at the form and it's quite daunting. After all, there's only an individual, not a group, there's no party info, etc, etc.

Can that stuff be omitted if I don't know it or it's simply not there?

no, you must fill it all in. You also need to remember to spill the blood of a virgin over it.

If you don't know stuff that is NOT required just don't select/input anything and leave it the way it is.

Commercial Animplayer and no real time effects make me "believe" that it hasn't much to do with a scene production. Which also explains why it wasn't uploaded here.

It's a demonstration, isn't it? I'm going to add this if it kills me!

In general, it's sufficient to just add a proper production name and a valid download URL. It's nicer to have all the extras ready (screenshot, group(s) and party info), but if you don't know/have those, it's ok to leave those blank for others to fill in, rather than making stuff up, which needs to be fixed later.

Yes, depending on your definition of demo. But it has nada to do with the demoscene.

Neither do the 3D Mark benchmarking tools, nor GL Excess by Paolo Martella, yet they're all here ;)

I remember getting this from 17 Bit Software PD company back in the day, I used to love listening to it as well :)

Here's the initial link on Pouet.net, just added it, and was quite surprised how immediate it was!

Although I entered "Music for Impact" as the group, as that seems to be the name of the series of demos by the guy named Nigel Sixsmith, but neither showed up - why is that?

Also, should I have added the "The" before the title, even though it's called that?

Also, I copied the ADF to my Dropbox account so that I could give a direct download link to it. I've seen the demo in a couple of sites on the web, but it seems that they need a subscription or something.

Will the demo link be redirected, or can I still do that if I manage to get a direct download link from elsewhere?

At least 3d Mark was made by sceners. Anyway, I'm not going to stop you uploading the demo, Pouet is a "grey area" anyway. :)

As for the dropbox link, I'll upload the demo to my FTP and change the link, then that problem is solved too. :)

Thanks, StingRay!

Pouet doesn't want to know about large parts of the scene, namely graphics and music, if they aren't included as a part of an executable demo. But then on the other hand, you can list videos as "wild" entries and entire PACKS of music or graphics. Go figure.

Not quite. You can list slideshows, which are not just packs of graphics. There's an artistic process in making a slideshow, as something you watch fullscreen, with a well-defined sequencing of the pictures.

Same for music disks, which have a menu, and often some extra text to read while listening to the music.

This is the difference that makes each of these (musicdisks and slideshows) worth a pouet entry with screenshot and download link. there are better suited databases for single music and gfx files. Browsing those with pouet would be extremely unpractical.
