And it came from a suggestion from one of the worlds most Left wing proponents and the joke was based on the fact that one of history's most right wing politicians enacted it many years before-hand.

Before Poland and Germany unite, Luxemburg, Austria and the german area of Switzerland join it. Since the last will never happen, Poland won't be ever joining.

But one thing is true: While other cultures draw more and borders, the german people were the only one in recent history uniting two nations back together again. In this regard Germany was and is pretty exceptional.

I wonder, why that is.
