Here we go!

As usual we've started organizing a couple months back and are now ready to officially announce Revision 2014 (yay!).

Revision will take place from April 18th to 21st in Saarbrücken, Germany - the place we've all grown to love!

Also, the event website will be up by the end of the year but that shouldn't keep you from preparing right now. So book vacation time, flights, busses, charter helicopters and rent cars but most of all start working on your releases so we can all have a great time at Easter 2014.

And now I hand over the microphone to franky - who has some important announcements.

We'd like to announce a couple of the changes to the Revision competitions for 2014. We're doing this right now because the impact on your releases and productions can be significant so we want you to have enough time to prepare.

1 : Browser intro/demo are no longer a separate compos.

We have seen that the browser platform has matured to a level where it can now compete with executable intros and demos. So all PC executable compos will now allow for browser entries to be submitted in them.

2 : New compo : 8K Intro.

Sizecoding has a long tradition in the demoscene and is one of the things that makes the difference for a certain subgroup of the demoscene subculture and with the 8k Intro Compo Revision intends to fill the gap between the classic 4k and 64k competitions : This competitions lays way more stress on the size coding aspect than 64k but gives you a bit more freedom to integrate very complex techniques and/or content to your intro. Since 8k Intro is mostly unexplored up to now, you have the unique chance to make this something great.

Addition, none of the classic High End Compos will be cancelled.

For those still needing a place to stay, booking.com for Hotel Crystal still shows three cheap single rooms left for dates that well encompass the entire party weekend. $406 or $473 / ~€300 or ~€349 (including VAT).

Just a heads-up: Hotel Crystal's online system says they have no free rooms on their website, but that seems to be wrong. I asked them via email yesterday and they offered me a room from every category they have, and I was able to reserve a room for 69€. So they should still have more free rooms left, and it's worth contacting them directly.

Hooray, Revision! Absolutely loved it last year, so a huge thanks to D.Fox et al. for organizing another installment. Looking very much forward to it!

dfox: there is no way to land a helicopter on the parking lot unfortunately, otherwise i'd already done it last year. but maybe a charter train would be nice :)
