Any news on ASD?

They way things are going in my head, my ultimate demo from 2050 (when I will be 72) will be a single black pixel on a black canvas with PS' white noise in the background; for 8 minutes. This will be the ultimate masterpiece :-))
less is more :)
Also all of my desktop computers and monitors at home have been replaced by a Bechstein IV. This makes "after hours" demo making much harder, but I'm finally in peace with myself and family.
take some recordings. pianos are always great sources for sound manipulations of any sort. :)
Now, I realize I'm not a demoscene megastar like ASD are, but.. for me, making demos stopped being just about "making demos" and more about "I'll do a demo if I get a good idea for one" long ago.
And this also means I haven't made as many demos or demoscene material as I used to.
I hope that the end results from my less-frequent demomakings have been more enjoyable, though.

"If I get a good idea" is highly linked to "if I'm exposed to cool things and in the demomaking mindset" though, so there are ways to motivate yourself into making more demos.. if that is indeed a real goal.
Soooo... anyone know when the .kkrieger final is coming out?
they are waiting for "inspiration", so, when I saw their stuffs with them ttrought time and my remote senses.

Yeah, I have to admit, I dismissed "Violent Nature" at first because I usually like certain kinds of soundtracks, but I was intrigued by the particle physics and curve effects on this when I saw it, so that part of the demo is very interesting indeed, good work!
The opposite can be true for me as well, like "Wind Under My Wings" - the visuals look like a scrambled corrupted mess to me, but the soundtrack is rocking!
Please don't take offence, ASD's work is excellent, and so are most of the other groups whose prods I've seen. I'm only mentioning ASD because as far as I can tell, they're probably the most prolific Windows Demoscene group out there. But as you say, it's time to have a rest to think up new ideas.
As I said, the Demoscene evolves.

Correct me, then. Who else is there? I still haven't figured out how to use Pouet.net properly, if there is some kind of "hall of fame" or something.

Well it's not like there's any objectively corret single choice there, but Farbrausch and Fairlight along with ASD these days probably are the most prolific. There is not real hall of fame except for top-whatever and most-cdcs and whatnot lists.
i like how this 'you should make X kind of demos' thread is evolving into 'you should like Y kind of demogroups'. grrrrreat! ;)

This is a good start, I guess.

Well, us ofcourse.
They're probably not entirely keen on the ASD comparisons, but what the hell: if you're looking for a spiritual successor to Lifeforce-era ASD, you should definitely keep an eye on Pyrotech.
Dear Navis,
some1 should release a demo like Debris to fuel your motivation to top it and work harder.. just like in 2007 with lifeforce..
working on smaller niche demos are so FLT'ish
its the big demos that counts in the demoscene history books.. to become legendary but also stay legendary :) the big demos that make you go WOW.. The rare gem's released not very often anymore made with passion and believe.
Every platform recognizes them.. Every decade you look back to has them. Batman Forever, Edge of Disgrace, LifeForce, Debris, Elevated, or more 90's like Stash or State of The Art or Desert Dream..
72 is to old.. You will probably have your pension earlier and thus enough free time to serve the scene atleast 2 more ASD megademo's..
Or perhaps nvidea will fuel your workload with NVscene 2014.. I mean you cant let (the real) Andromeda win again over ASD just like in 2008 now can you?
That said All the best with the ideas in your head.. If the creative process serves you right than atleast it would satisfy yourself and that's the most important today i guess..
Megademos take to much time and efford.. The scene is dead now ! :) NOT! :)
Anyway, Keep em coming!
Friendly Regards,
Magic
p.s. i like contradictions so what? :)

nice; the thing is (and this goes for everyone else) as long as you dont quit you cannot tell what the future may bring.
Translation: "I've already made my mind up that your next demo is not going to be as good as Lifeforce."

Not everyone is as simple as you, magic. It's a naïve thing to think the most popular demos are automatically the ones worth remembering. They usually just appeal to the lowest common denominator the most (while obviously also having several positive qualities as well). Making smaller and more personal productions is a paradigm shift I'm more than happy to welcome.
Lmao, tell me more about these "demoscene history books"!

I think your post might have just achieved this.
