Printed on a Prusa 6" i3 Kit. I will try this again with yellow plastic. Any requests? A pouet pig printed in pink plastic perhaps?

Heh, neat.

Writing this in a hurry, but seeing as I'm getting one of these (Kossel Pro) in November/December (well, all the parts; then I have to assemble it) I have thought it would be interesting if someone hauled one of these things to a demoparty and say, started printing group logos on demand ... but they're not extremely fast so unless the models were small you'd have to come back later to pick it up (not to mention getting permission to print a group's logo and have a proper model of it ...). Plus I don't live close enough to any demo parties to make hauling my future printer around.

Anyway, this is all still cool. :)

I should try to print some of my 3d models on the office printer, but it's too much trouble to tune the damn thing to work properly.

I'd love to see the DJing Gerbera robot printed out, mesh seems to be buried in gerbera.dat - maybe I'll try to extract it from there soon™ :)

nice work - i like it - 3d printing is the future - no doubt about it.

i create jewelry and accessoires with this technique but i dont own a 3d printer for myself.

i have a company that does the printing for me, i only can model the 3d shit :)

i made a model just for fun - some hard surface stuff - nothing special - i´m working on
a detailed robot for a compo pic and this could be a part of the lower elbow or so.

it is in stl format so if you want to use it as a model for your 3d printer for testing purpose

@mog wasn't the source for demopaja released some years ago? it shouldn't be that difficult to find out what that dat is.

xernobyl: just had a quick peek after I wrote it, 7zip depacked the dat - and in the hexeditor it looks like a glued together melange of various files - so this should be doable.

Also I want to point out it would look splendid on my desk ^^

Yes it does float and is unsinkable with watertight internal air pockets. It needs weight in the tail area to level it.

Looks like someone already brought a 3D printer to Evoke 2012 and made this cool C64 logo. Some downsides with bringing a 3D printer to a party:

• spending valuable party time re-calibrating it and getting things perfectly parallel
  
• finding a stable level surface that doesn't shake with BASS
  
• losing parts and sanity

@mog: I don't know what *.MAS 3D files are but Gerbera Quarry has simplified *.ASE models of that robot

@cosmicollie: I feel the rose would have a hard time printing. I'll give the robot arm part a shot. It has an insane amount of overhangs and may need to be split down the middle to have a flat part to start with. The ghoul looks cool and would print well.

how's the 'dpi'/precision? the sqny headphones i did for kewlers-mono might be nice to see as an actual object :)

Most likely. Though the support stuff is printed in a way that's easy to break or cut off. Other processes, typically used by non-hobby printers, print a separate support material that can be dissolved [in water] after the print is done or in the case of selective laser sintering processes (used by shapeways) the same powder that makes up the print also doubles as reusable support material. (This is why even if you have a hollow model it costs the same unless there's a port larger than a certain diameter by which they can reclaim most of that material to use again.)
