While this is at first sight only interesting for german musicians who look for an alternative to the mighty GEMA (the C3S is crowdfunded and follows a piece-based approach vs the "its all ours, if you like it or not" approach the GEMA has).

In the long run, however, also the international musicians wanting to play/release stuff in germany could benefit because once theres a real alternative in germany the argument on which the "GEMA-Vermutung" (the law that sais you have to proof that your stuff isnt protected by GEMA opposed to vice-versa) is based on is void (which basically is that, since there is no other copyright society in germany, it MUST be protected by GEMA).
Do you think this is a good way to solve the issues we have with the GEMA or that its just another bubble that will pop and fade sooner or later? It sure sounds like one of the best things happening to german artists in a long time and worth our support to me.

to answer the question: time will tell. the good approach here is, that by joining it you get a vote and that they want to support alternative licensing models such as creative commons.
was well needed imho. hope it works out nicely to clean out the GEMA cancer from germany.
i'm a consumer. i love my freedom. i'd have killed that "laws" and GE-companies (GEbührenfuzzies - SCHEISS DEUTSCH) a long time ago for restricting me.
