everybody leaving right after the compos it prizegiving = no afterparty. Wtf Hungarians ? Stay the fuck!

I remember drinking until six in the morning in good company but yeah, people seemed to disappear. The same thing happened at Icons'07 when there were many locals. Maybe they were just smart enough to go home before irreversible brain damage results from all the pálinka?

Also, what a great party and great compos. I am still exhausted which just means that I had a great time. Big thanks to anyone involved and everyone I met, see you next year!

If you haven't visited Szimplakert and you're still in Budapest, you need to fix that.

: D

Yeah that's a recurring problem :/

We Hungarians have weird habits indeed. Instead of having an afterparty, we party before the party actually ends! Nuts!

The moment when you borrow a microphone from the partyplace, and then 2 days later the sound system rental people come and pack it up with their own stuff and leave:

What, have they never heard of color-coding things with tape.

Sigh.

*shakes head*
It was actually a different color/model, but they didn't expect us to ask the location for a microphone when they brought like 5.

Awesome party! A huge thanks to both organizers and visitors. Hopefully we'll see us again in 2014.

This was my first function, and I have to say this party surely rocks for several points:
+ kind women prepare sandwiches which are damn tasty
+ free coffee, size of the cups was rather small - but we found some (well hidden) bigger ones
+ kind people everywhere, a lots of enlightening talks have been had
+ compos were stunning, for instance the handdrawn graphics compo - holy shit wow :D
+ preachers salmiaki
+ beamer/soundsystem were damn fine
+ whenever I had a problem somebody was able to help me
+ budapest airport has free wlan

- awake people talking for ages in the sleeping hall (so fucking loud i heard it through my ohropax)
- beer was cheap and drinkable, but coming from .de and being able to read the label is meh :)

Thanks to everyone involved, especially gargaj and vicky - and also everyone behind the scenes working their asses off so we had all the fun <3

Szia next year :3

Nah, as this woul'd mean I'd have to crawl out the cozy sleeping bag. Soooo, if people could just shut up, that'd be fine <3

Also nothing against waking up you buddy, but standing there for what felt like an hour..

My first Function as well - insta-review:

+ Cool organizers!
+ Cool venue!
+ FANTASTIC compos! The graphics and demo compos especially - great stuff
+ Beer-sale on premises (despite being the kind it was, it was entirely acceptable, and a life-saver :)
+ Cheap - both to travel to and visit (hotel, flights, taxi, food.. all very cheap)

- The PA-system was rather weak (and oddly tuned), but I guess I'm spoiled in that regard, so not _really_ a minus. :)
- Pretty warm in the venue, but we fixed it by opening windows (not sure we were allowed to, but hey -- whatever :)
- Finding the location which was only listed as "The same place as every year!" was a bit of a bitch when the taxi driver dropped us off at Le Rose Hotel and we had to carry our bags (and cases of beer) back and forth. Super-annoying that the embedded Google Maps on the website didn't actually link to Google Maps.

Party page at:

http://2013.function.hu/eng:About

... actually contains direct Google Maps link, and GPS coordinates. :) But yeah, maybe this information can be spread also to travelling and location pages, because it can be a bit of confusing (heard others complain too).

Charlie: that's possible, but after checking "Location" and "Travelling" on an expensive roaming data plan on my iPhone, I didn't feel like clicking random links just to see if they accidentally had the name of the place.

My point: "Location" is perhaps a more logical place to put the name of the, oh, Location. :)

Ah, Generation iPhone, unable to, like, look up the place before you travel and store it somewhere on the phone. :)

kb: we did. We checked "Location" and "Travelling" on our laptops before we left the hotel. Didn't help much :)

Also: there is an embedded Google Map on one of those pages, but alas - it's not embedded "the right way", so you can't click on it and open it in Google Maps.

I wonder how you can embed it "the right way". I never could click an embedded google map anywhere, always had to click on the google logo in the corner to open it in a new window.

I guess there are some problems Norwegian oil-money can't fix.

Actually, we're looking into buying Function and putting it under Norwegian administration. Next year both Solskogen and Kindergarden will be hosted in Budapest, with the level of travellers' guidance you'd expect from a Norwegian party and the same low prices you'd expect from a eastern European party.
Our investors are through the roof over the fiscal projections.

In related news, Norwegian Demoscene Inc. invites you to The Gathering:Demo at 17.04.2014 in lovely Saarbrücken.
