Executing Final Reality by Remedy in recent systems...

category: general [glöplog]

Hello everyone.,

I just wonder if there's a way to execute Final Reality in newer systems.

I've already tried to execute the EXE file in WinXP VMware machine, with and without microsoft compatiblity toolkit (there, I just chose Win98 mode, and ticked what seems to be necessary to solve this issue, but i'm an absolute n00b it this software.)

Also tried to run it in Win98 VMware machine. In both situations, the EXE file just won't respond and even start, even show an error or appear as "not responding" in the task manager (aldo it installs fine). In the host Win7 64-bit just the usual compatibility error of "not working is 64-bit systems" pops up.

Is there anyway to solve this, or anything needs to be put in the microsoft compatibility toolkit.

Thanks in advance...
Never try to execute Third Reality by The Cure on any recent systems...
The Cure will be remedied in just one call, just becoz of you!
Get some Atari2600, burn the EXE to EPROM, solder it onto the slots of the console itself and trigger the Triggers from time to time, so you dont get bored once you got it running!

Greetings to Stingray!

I haven't checked it but if it doesn't run with the "usual" tricks it might be impossible without some serious patchwork.

A quick look reveals that fr101.exe is a self-extracting file which contains more setup files (installception). Have you actually managed to install / extract the stuff in this setup? Setup.exe won't run on x64, but I suppose once installed, the actual demo should run on 64-bit systems.
