more heads know more.. looking for a French film

category: offtopic [glöplog]

Not scene related thing again, but there could be someone who knows this.

I can't find the name of a French film I've seen a long time ago. I only know it was a detective genre, it was from 1982 (or 1981?) and the main thing - it was filmed in black&white. There was a man (men) who rode a sport bicycle. The end of the film was unexpectable, opened. It was a full duration movie (about 1:30) from the present (modern) time (1980's). I don't remeber its name :( Can't google/youtube it. Nothing.

Couldn't be this one, since it was released in 1999, but it's all I could think of : "Les convoyeurs attendent". :p

Un gendarme a Saint-Tropez isn't it, really :) It's not b/w afaik, just the first 5 minutes :) .. and it's from 1964, not 1982 :)

Les convoyeurs attendent - not that one :(

It isn't in the list of b/w films, I checked it already. Some list of French b/w films would be better...

Where/when was the last time you remember seing it? That might help in the search for it. Did you watch it in a theater, was it on TV broadcast or did you visit someone who had it on VHS/Laserdisc/DVD or something? Any information you can possibly think of (fx. how the main actor looked like, if there were one main actor or more etc) would possibly help people in trying to identify the film.

You would be better off asking on T411.me in the forums.

No spoilers, please. He said that this one was a detective history.
Besides, I like to watch French films from time to time.

- It's French film.
- I've seen it on TV broadcast, it was probably in the first half of 90's.
- The film is from 1982 (I remember this from the end titles).
- It is black/white (that's special on it, 1982 films weren't usually b/w).
- I don't remember the plot, just that there were two men, who liked to ride the bicycle. One of them used some French car a Renault or a Citroen or something, and took his bike in it.
- It was a detective story - there was some murder in it.
- There was no Delon/Belmondo/other known actor in it.
- One of the actors (man who liked biking) was about 40-50 years old man.
- The film had surprisingly opened ending

Is it a detective story or there's a detective?
Is it about crimes?
Is it more like a classic film noir?
Or it's just some drama story that happen to have some detective but still isn't a film noir?
I think it's not a film noir, because it was long like normal film, about 1h 30m.
It is about a murder, the man who likes riding a bicycle (and has the car - a station-wagon) is the murderer, as far as I rememer.

this is the closest that i got: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083255/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

it's french, it's from 1981, it's got a detective, it's got two guys who ride sport bicycles, both of the guys are 40-50 years old, one of the guys is the murderer, it's got an original ending... but apparently it's not in black and white :) never seen it though.

"Jean-Louis Trintignant is an architect and joins a bicycle racing group where a detective (Claude Brasseur) is member. He uses this friendship to cover the murder of his wife. The film includes several scenes of the group’s weekly race (which also plays a part in the murderer’s alibi), and the final confrontation is done using bikes, not guns."
