category: general [glöplog]
i didn't like kewlers until protozoa... it's one of my favorite pc-demos to date.
who actually did select the demos then?

According to the website, there was a SMS voting system open for all visitors.

what i actually meant is, who pre-selected all the demos that were shown at that festival, if it wasn't digitale kultur ev?
btw, congratz to kewlers :)
from what i heard xxx told the dudes to surf pouet for some demos and thats what they dig out.. :) might be just a vicious rumour though ;)
Heh, if that is indeed true, that is really pretty amusing =)
Seriously, introducing the pouet-zoo to someone trying to run something serious is probably the last thing you want to do ;)

gloom: Maybe german arty farty people have other criteria for measuring prod quality than you do :)
And please don't use the word "credibility" as you're into TG organizing :P

Still no "kewlers sucks" comment by plek. Amazing.

and you suck.
and you suck.
dominei: yeah, that attitude will surely help the norwegian demoscene.
in addition; if you'd like to please explain to me how my word is not credible because i arrange the gathering, please do, as i sure as hell can't.

fuck the norwegian demoscene
i don't know where the rumour comes from that they searched for entries themselves, demos had to be explictly submitted to them, and AFAIK not further preselection was done.
ryg, that was the original plan. it was supposed to be 64k only and they had to be submitted by the authors.
later the concept was changed and the bitfilm staff selected the demos themselves. the authors only had to give a permission.

I think they did some preselecting because mfx+kewlers' x-mix 2004 wasn't in the final lineup, although we submitted it there.
Well they could have at least dropped a mail to those who submitted or something :PP
I didn't submited any of our demos (because I didn't knew anything about this festival). I recieved an email from organizers with offer to participate in festival.
If someone is interested here is an email:
Hello nesnausk,
as you have probably noticed on the message boards of digitalekultur.org or pouet.net, as the first film festival worldwide the Bitfilm Festival Hamburg will be running a demo competition - in cooperation with Tobias Heim of Digitale Kultur e.V.
Originally we wanted to limit this competition to 64K works, but when we screened the entries we had to find out that for our audience most results would not have worked. The Bitfilm Festival is not a demo party,
but reaches a broad audience with hardly any nowledge of the demo scene.
We have therefore decided to change the rules and open the competition to any kind of demo. After some time of intensive research on pouet.net and scene.org we have selected the demos we liked best - among these your Demo 612.
We would appreciate if we could show Demo 612 at our festival. There is a 1500 Euro prize for the winner, who will be selected by audience voting.
Please get back to me if this is not OK for you for any reason. You might also want to check if the credits on our website are correct.
Please update them if necessary.
Please upload some JPEG images that we can use for our website.
Thanks and best regards

yep, that's true. i got contacted by the bit-film festival organizers and asked if they could include "my mother was a crackwhore" in the competition.
the mail was more or less the same as onehalf got.
Beats me how some of the selected demos are for a "broad audience" :)
Message to everyone who submitted one or more 64ks that didnt get entered in the compo:
