They don't really have beer, they have Kölsch, which seems to only take effect on Cologne residents. Most other Germans can gulp it like a soda-pop w/o anything happening :P

iirc, they also sold Beck's last year (which isn't really a beer either)

Don't worry. Actually Kalk is better than its reputation. You can get food and beer nearby and Maali even spotted some hookers in walking distance.

nic0, kalk uset to be a "bad neighborhood" fifteen years ago, nowadays it's rather harmless. the only really "bad" neighborhoods in cologne are perhaps chorweiler, bilderstöckchen, and parts of porz, and they're quite far away from kalk. :P

considering the # of döner shops in the area, just dont wear a tshirt drawn by your local cartoonist and all shall be well.

fucking amazing falafel and baklava to be had in local neighbourhood btw. Why the fear? Its a rockin neighbourhood, lovely people too!
