Not welcoming

Also, yeah, that monkey experiment is appropriate; it's just that I think it actually weakens your argument rather than enforcing it.
I read the monkey experiment as verification of my thesis, that if me and three other danes beat up the ass-grabbing dane every time he grabbed an ass, sooner or later he would learn his lesson and stop grabbing ass. And we could move on to making demos and talking to women like they were, you know, real people.
good point about that sending links @psonice. but... it's up to impress other with the fun portion of the scene not worry about negative clichés about nerds and computer geeks. and... don't forget they're still painted. btw... doesn't anybody like boobs. it's hypocritical to say "no, don't like to watch it". only in america.

this is getting better and better :)
yumeji: not everyone is the same. A lot of people are offended by showing boobs in public. If your boss is one of those people, and somebody sends you a link to pouet and you open it at work.. you can see there might be a small problem yes? Of course we know better than to open pouet in such a situation, but for anyone who never heard of the site they're not going to know.
So when I send somebody a link saying "check out this awesome thing, somebody made cool as hell mountains with music in 4k" should I also say "but don't open it anywhere public, the site randomly shows pictures of boobs squirting milk"?

Yay! Fighting generalizations with generalizations.
But seriously folks, these pouët threads on women are always entertaining. Keep the comments flowing!

What im making is really a pragmatic as well as ethical argument, and I know that ethical arguments are usually wasted since it just comes down to value-sets and whether people give a fuck - so i'll try the pragmatic one:
I want us to be nice and welcoming to every-fucking-one. I know that a lot more females likes computers now than in the 90es. How do we get more grrrrrrrrls to join us? you can extend the argument to teenagers, transsexuals or guys named Steve if you'd like. It would be about the same. How do we get more Steves to join us?

nic0: The answer might be education, or making demos about it :)
We had a discussion about this on IRC, but I'm not sure if anything concrete came of it. Calling out when people are acting crappy might be enough for now.
Your posts so far have been great btw. Have a corgi:

I don't know what is more hilarious, the false generalizations about Americans and their cultural prudery, about women, about the scene, or about so-called "political correctness".
But the trolling is pretty hilarious.
And points to recent sane comments from nic0 and Tjoppen.
As well as Gargaj and Preacher's reactions. Sorry if I missed anyone, skimming.

magnificent. anyone who upvoted the boobs logo and downvoted that one is a hypocrite cunt.
trololololo.
oh and FWIW. Women defending sexism and objectifying of women are the exact same thing as the difference between a house-slave and a field-slave. I guess most of you can related to that since you watched the new Tarantino film.
its a very easy way for a person of a minority to get in good standing with the majority. another term for it is MOTHERFUCKING COLLABORATOR.
If a female demoscene artists started drawing nude men no-one would want to put them in a demo and she wouldn't get any votes. Also she would be considered weird. If jenni started to stand up and refuse everytime a Finnish demoscener uttered a sexist remark, she would be less welcome at boozembly and people would start calling her a bitch behind her back.
this has nothing to do with purism, moralism or political correctness, except for the -not worksafe- comments.

now that makes me wounder, what was the clock on?
Cool comic in a language no one can read bro.
thanks bro.
okkie: To me it looked like you're actually agreeing on things.
i agree with sigflup, that logo shouldn't be on pouet. sounds like so does its creator and others so kudos to sigflup for braving the flames to make a positive change! :)
considering how much work it takes to create a demo it would be good to do as much as possible to foster a welcoming and encouraging environment. there always has seemed to be a pretty big difference between the environment at demo parties and on pouet. at a party you meet other people working on these cool things and exchanging ideas and tricks and motivating each other to make more cool stuff. that's an amazing culture! pouet can often come off as the opposite though with discouraging feedback, apathy, and trolls. it's of course been said a lot that pouet is not the demoscene but it is still the go to place online and for many who can't make it to parties it's perhaps their only view of the scene.

can we get rid of the ponies while we're at it?

Not true, we in Finnish Amiga Group welcome all nude images of men for our demos. The sexier, the better!
