lra closed the issue 17 minutes ago"
ok, who's left in favour of "let's proceed as if nothing happened"?

Doing it on github requires a github login, no? Maybe you SHOULD open a new topic here psonice?
tomaes: sure. but until then I'd like to have alternative means to get data. I mean, with a good structured export it might even be quite easy to rebuild the database completely - with a new and improved schema.
revivial: if i thought he was listening here i would have done so :)
d.fox: Sure, that's why I said "good thinking". :) I looks like it will go live pretty soon too.

...well then let's hope he comes up with a reasonable response and posts it here then.
He forced his way back in, and now he has to deal with the political fallout that followed.
ok, so switching from ponies to unicorns now? ;)

Ponies can be unicorns too, and considering she's got wings as well, technically she's an alicorn.

You should learn about ponies!
Also:
Happy birthday dipswitch! \o/
I'm all for keeping the discussion here -- if only Analogue would participate, that is.
Aren't animals with eyes that point forwards generally meat eating?
Generally, yes. But not exclusively.
What we need is this:
All data should be published (the pouet DB).
All code should be published.
Then, the leader question can be resolved without repression.

Adok: You mean like http://www.hugi.scene.org/?
Good question. Who owns this domain? I don't know exactly. All I know is: Whoever does so, has given me permission to publish my content there. But if the owner decides to close the site down, he/she has the right to do so and I will have to look for another place to upload my content.
Adok: you seriously don't know how TLD works? That domain is scene.org. Anything before the . is still scene.org.
Anyway: with regards to the domain - a domain is a domain - it is completely separated from the CONTENT and SERVER associated with the domain. The whole "who owns the domain"-path is irrelevant.

adok: put another way, I could point one of my own domains at the scene.org server. You'd type in "psoniceownspouet.net", and see this site. Do I own pouet? No, I don't. And if I delete that domain, the site still exists, you just can't access it from the same address.
In other words, if he for some crazy reason told us we can't have pouet.net any more, somebody would point troll-lair.com at it and we'd all use that instead. The domain doesn't really matter at all.

gloom: I know that, but I don't know who actually owns scene.org. Internic WHOIS displays "The International Scene Organization RY" - so I guess that's some sort of organization by Dutch law. As I'm not an expert in Dutch law I don't know what that actually means (i.e. who is legally in charge of deciding whether there is a subdomain named hugi.scene.org, for example).
Of course the content is owned by whoever published it (i.e. the creators of the productions that can be downloaded from scene.org, the pouet.net users who post to the pouet.net BBS, etc.). The server can be owned by anyone and usually there is some sort of contract between the server owner and the site owner in which it is specified how much webspace the site owner is allowed to use and which capabilities of the server (PHP etc.) he/she is allowed to use.
I asked for the domain name owner of pouet.net because I thought that the domain name owner was identical to the site owner. I know Laurent Raufaste started pouet.net and in the course of the years allowed other people to act as administrators, work on the scripts and moderate the site. Unless he has formally renounced his rights as the site owner, I would still consider him the site owner. Those who contributed to the scripts own the rights to the parts of the scripts they created, those who added contents own the rights to these contents. Those who just host pouet.net on their server own nothing; they have given the site owner the right to upload and maintain pouet.net, but they do not have the right to take over the website. Have I made a clear statement?

OK, you are right. So my question regarding who owns the domain pouet.net was irrelevant.
D.Fox: Good move!
Adok: I see what you are doing. You megatroll! :P

Well.. I wouldn't go that far. A gazillion incoming links, along with pagerank probably counts for something.
@dipswitch: oh boy, you should read better. I never took Analogue's side when it comes to the decisions he made and the coup d'état that happened.
If you understood it that way, you're badly mistaken ;)
GargaJ did a wonderful job handling pouet till now and I wished it wouldn't have changed. And I consider to be 100% on his side.
My point was that first step would be for Analogue to ask for forgiveness and admit he did something bad. And I'm sure that if only he did that, GargaJ would be wise enough to accept those excuses. Doesnt say much about the future and our own insecurities. but it would be a nice grown up humans first step.
Oh and yes I'm against witch-hunting and I dont think Analogue desserves to be burnt. He just deserves to be put back to his place, which is what we do here.
Now, if you wanna badmouth my groups for my opinion...

revival: Yes. And that's why don't need a schism. We should find a sort of peaceful resolve to this mess instead of split the community.
But don't get me wrong. In the long term, perhaps a change of domain would not be as bad as it looks now.
Links and pageranks can change over time.

alkama, sorry, i certainly did not want to badmouth you or your groups.
