Revision 2013 Media Facade Competition

category: parties [glöplog]
Revision is cooperating with the experimental media lab (xm:lab) within the Academy of Fine Arts Saar (HBKsaar) and calls out to all demosceners to submit their artwork for the media facade, a large backprojection screen, covering the entire glass facade of the academy’s gallery building.

So, groups or single artists - please have a look at this out-of-the-ordinary competition and submit new or converted productions.

The winners will be chosen by a jury and presented during a short show during Revision.

The three best submissions will be played every night for many months on the media facade in Saarbrücken and the best one will receive a nice trophy and and invitation to the academy to hold a workshop, do a talk or something similar.

So - for more information - check out the competition page and create something a little different from the usual Demoscene production.

nic0: the event team will do a video of all contributions and I'm pretty sure the HBK will do a press release and some videos as well.

so. 4000x600 px .
why is it that even big projects use that low resolutions *lol*.

is there anybody out there who would like to work on a fancy animated pic-viewer which can zoom in and out and may focus on details. let's say for an input resolution of... dunno... 20000x8000 ?
i've got several pics which extend the given resolution...

thx and greets. cu@rev !

It is mandatory visiting Revision to contribute to this compo. Or are remote entries accepted?

Nice! That 3d-stuff is impressive. Immersive even. I'll try to finish an entry in time.

So, checked with the xm:lab: Remote entries are allowed - so start doing stuff :-)

As a reminder: All other Revision competitions are NOT open to remote entries - this is an exception.

Would it be possible to get info on the proportional width of the two sides of the projection? You can make a rough guess from the pictures, but it'd be nice to know how many pixels width from the video are going to be projected onto each side of the building.
added on the 2013-03-04 13:33:37 by leblane leblane
Yeah, the pixel-dimensions of each window would be extremely helpful.
added on the 2013-03-04 13:43:49 by gaspode gaspode
Since it's a 5 projector setup and there's 5 backprojected windows (3 and 2) displaying a 4000*600 pixel resolution, wouldn't it be fairly safe to assume, that each projector then handles 800*600 pixels and that there's 3 (2400*600) front and 2 (1600*600) side?

Can't imagine they'd have each projector display anything else than a 5th of the total width :)
added on the 2013-03-04 14:00:05 by Punqtured Punqtured
@Punqtured: Might be right, but the second window at the shorter side looks like only 2/3 width of the other ones.
added on the 2013-03-04 14:06:49 by gaspode gaspode
That would make a lot of sense :) - It might be my imagination, but in the pictures, the widths of the windows on the right look a bit off?

The easiest way to find that out would be to write to Michael Schmitz - he's the go-to-guy for this competition:
