Nick change after 19 years. Yes or no?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
I vote no.
There was for a very brief time a Scoopex memberlist with me listed as "Protech", but I soon came to my senses. So this handle is now available. As is "Stabby McRapesheik", incidentally.

Use 6-Factor and you have a nice X-Factor.
use "Fakktor Sixx" if you want to start a 80's hair metal band :)
great idea, starting an 80`s Metal Hair Band....if I only had hair (bald on top head) XD
Keep your nickname after 19 years I`d say!
I know some guy in Brain Control who changed his nick in time just as we founded BC (Snej became Payne)

for some reason I changed my nick from nula to nooly like 8 years ago to no avail. My local demoscene friends still call me nula :]]
It's a good name. Factory FAC 6 - OMD: Electricity!
in ~2005 or so i couldnt use Maali on IRC for months, cos Keops made me join some gay fisting channel and a dude called gayfalcon queried me again and again and well, my bum does not fancy any fisting!
Gayfalcon is a fantastic nickname hth
Stick with it, I'd say. 19 years is quite some time and it doesn't sound too stupid or imature, imho. You could "evolve" / slightly change it to F6, if you like. But other than that, stick with it.
I don't even know why. It doesn't make sense, it's just an idiot internet thing, but... I like choosing one name and sticking to it, actually.

Do it. I switched "texel" by "Román Cortés" (my surnames) as online appearance several years ago and I believe it is a really good idea. I would totally recommend to go with your real name. We are not kids anymore; no need to hide with a nickname.
Also, as teenager/20-something, I remember I was a bit scared to relate myself in the "real world" with the demoscene, because it seemed to me like a too geek activity, so a nickname was good. But, right now, I'm totally proud and happy of have been a demoscener.

texel: i tend to use variations of my real name on anything that has no or no exclusive ties to the demoscene -- and my nick over here and sometimes on irc
my nick is a variation of my real name in a way too!
u r not alone...
I stick to FeNriZ (written like that ;-)) now for 15 years...
there where days, when I thought that would be cool... hehe... it wasn't even back then. Now I know :D
On one of my birthday parties with a lot of people standing in our garden around some campfire, a classmate from my first school asked me, of he is the only one, that doesn't call me with my nickname...
I looked around... nearly 45 ppl there... and my mother waved from the other side of the garden and shouted "hey fen, come over here, I wanna ask you something".
I laughed and said no :)
Stick to what you have :) It could be worse! :D

Step it up to Factor7! (Used to be Giant/Fit initially)
Change your nick to Majic12.
Stick with it.

factor6 sounds great. i would only change such stupid nicknames like gloom, cheesy etc.
I like turtles
@skyrunner: I have hair to start such an 80's metal band :) Yeah! :DDDD
@others: well, I will not change it and I will stick with it (with glue) :D
I just thought it's stupid and not original, but yes, the only person that cares (and doesn't like it too much) is actually me. Nah, no changes :)
THANKS!

Changing your nick is possible, if you make a demo about it.
By and large, names don't matter, but what you do with them.. like "doomsday" and cutesy demos with hearts and stuff.. =)
GayFalcon sounds cool indeed :D
I also thought about changing my nickname, several times already.
But in the end, I don't want to; since it's unique and I use it since 2006.
