Revision 2013
category: parties [glöplog]
If you need some coding music on Monday night, I'm spinning some tunes on NSB Radio from 7pm uk / 8pm euro.
Quote:
It would probably make for an interesting experience for the organizers to try to sync the visuals and the sound since it would take about 6,5 seconds for the sound to reach the partyplace :D
Finally, the tables are turned on people actually attending the party -worse lag than the stream.
I found this one GEMA's website:
"Nutzt jemand anderes als der Urheber das Werk, so hat der Urheber einen Anspruch auf angemessene Vergütung."
If Google Translate doesn't play tricks on me, doesn't that mean, that if an author enters a competition, then, in essence, the author himself decides how his work is presented, and Revision as such, then couldn't be held responsible for any claims? Or am I missing a point?

I think the deciding factor is, whether it's the author or "someone else" that "uses" the music.
I suppose it's Revision that uses the music in this case, at least from the GEMA's point of view (of course!).
I accidentally a double room and {random Portuguese scenes} is not coming to Revision so if you feel like spending some money and have some actual sleep, let me know.
(btw: if I hate you, this is obviously not going to work out :P)

also yay getting back from work and -still- not being fully awake! \o/
I bought flight tickets, reserved crystal hotel and shuttle bus.

bring Pocky! :_D
OK!
But I wonder such a snack is not sold in EU?
Or it is sold but very expensive?
I have other question.
I like blue cheese and I can buy it in store.
But it is sold at about 600yen(about 5 euro) per 125g.
It seems it is imported from EU countries.
I think it is bit expensive.
How much is blue cheese in Germany?

Well, that raises the question: who is "Revision" in this context? Presumably, as far as the GEMA paperwork is concerned, it's Dfox's organisation, Tastatur und Maus e.V.
So, hypothetically, if Dfox was a GEMA member, he would be able to enter the music compo and play his music without any problems - if the sentence Punqtured quotes is literally true. By extension, then, if any other GEMA member wants to enter the music compo, we could arrange for them to become a member of Tastatur und Maus e.V. on the spot - at which point TuM e.V. is just performing its own work (and thus has no need to compensate the artist through GEMA), no?
(Or, if stuffing the board of TuM e.V. with musicians is a bad idea for other reasons: would it be possible to create a new organisation specifically for this purpose, and declare to GEMA that "Pantsoff Entertainment GmbH" is the company providing all audio entertainment at Revision, and just happens to have a board of directors consisting entirely of GEMA-affiliated musicians who are generously providing their precious IP at a bargain price?)

@tomohiro: there is some similar stuff like pocky called "Mikado" but just with chocolate, tastes a bit boring. real pocky is awesome \o/
blue cheese isn't that expensive and you can get it in nearly every supermarket. But if you want to take it with you to japan, you need some good cooling packs for the flight ;D

gasman, this sounds very nice and all, but: no. That sentence Punqtured quoted probably is some kind of synopsis but definitely not part of any legal text. In fact, as soon as you are a GEMA member you give them the authority to collect for any and all of your works, regardless of context. Yes, this means that musicians in .de must pay for putting their own stuff on their own websites, and also for playing their own songs at concerts. And you can count yourself lucky if you get any significant amount of that back because of course they'll look for every loophole they can find to distribute as much of the money you've paid for performing your own songs to their "orderly members" as possible instead.
Really, the only way to rectify this is to rip the GEMA's monopoly out of their filthy hands and get the concept of a collection society into the 21st century where there's stuff like "databases" and such that could grant artists way more control over the way their works are exploited. The C3S people are on a good way, and I can only urge everyone to support them.

You can buy Pocky from the local "China market" here in Turku. It's made in Thailand, but it's the real stuff. The package looks like this

Tomohiro, blue cheese in Europe is around to no more than 300Y per 100g.
Blue cheese is expensive in Japan the way natto is expensive here ;)
I'll be in Japan while Revision will be held otherwise I would have brought some most excellent cheese, however I can arrange the french brigade to bring some quite great ones ;)
