Any demoscener from Mensa?

category: residue [glöplog]
I scored 134+ 2 years ago, which qualified for a MENSA membership. But I was too stingy to pay their annual fee so I didn't join :P

What would be the benefit of being a member of Mensa?

The most important benefit of being a member of Mensa is that you can start a thread in the Mensa forums about any topic, and you will get serious answers, without people posting "WTF?" or images of cats.

Alas, now that this thread is marked as "residue", let's start pouetizing it.

That's Adok, dear sceners, trying to fit into a society that doesn't want him. Imitation truly is the highest form of admiration.

in return we can act all Mensa, put Adok in a box with Zyklon B and propose a paradox whether he's alive or not.

just because he is socially inapt to be part of the demoscene, we're no longer worthy his admiration. and we're also no longer brilliant either, probably cos of the same reason. :DDD
1) I see no problem with demosceners writing sloppy code. It's a kind of throwaway code - make the demo work, then forget about its code. Time and motivation are very scarce resources, why spend time writing really good code when hardly anyone cares about it anyway? When writing code for stuff that's going to be used or even improved upon by others demosceners can write better code of course.

2) Being smart does not imply having good behaviour. And there's a fine line between genius and insanity of course.

3) Don't rely on getting praise. Socialize.

What's the point in writing good code, everybody will YT it anyway!

Have you noticed those adds that ask you to take an IQ test? I guess, clicking them or not is the IQ test itself :)

So what about using "mensa membership" for procrastination? We are all procrastinators, aren't we? So I put it on the top of my list and can easily fulfill all other positions of lower priority :) "structured procrastination" that is ;)

if we all join mensa then maybe adok will write a blog post soon that he doesn't admire people with a high IQ anymore! :P
