Song using ZX Spectrum tape loading noise

category: music [glöplog]

Hello

Not a demo or anything, but I thought I'd post this video I made for a song I also made based on the Spectrum loading noise to see if anyone liked it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLWEy59lUhc

Now, I know what you see is not truly authentic, as a SCREEN$ doesn't normally load like that (and a song based around a long Speccy program loading might be a bit tough on the ears, and frankly the cat is not anatomically correct and the radiator is not plumbed in properly and TVs in the 80s didn't really have legs like that), but the video idea came to me after I made the song, and I am wondering if I can dust off the old Sinclair basic skills and create a sequence that does actually load like that. If I could, that might form the basis of a new mix!

In the meantime I hope you like this. I made it with a combination of Inkscape, Photoshop and Premiere. The ZX sounds are a mix of my original tapes (the "cyan and red" noise) and some from an emulator (the "yellow and blue" noise). I still own my original 1983 48k model :)

I first read the topic title as "Sony using ZX Spectrum tape loading noise." So I clicked on the thread anticipating another of "those" discussions. But alas, I was mistaken. (Which is both relieving and strangely disappointing at the same time...)
now this one's sweet! you could've released it as wild demo on a small party, then i could've given you this:

Sounds great.I like it...
Glad you are all finding this groovy.

Just found this tonight and added it to my cassette archive on Flickr. Did anyone else do this in 1999 or was I the only one?

There are some VERY raw punky musical experiments on there after the games.

Hmm, seems I am not the only one to think of "the loading song"! Anyone ever see this one?
