Metalvotze won Breakpoint with an idiotic and childish demo because according to most sceners "it was different from the usual boring technical stuff".

YET technical stuff like 4k and 256byte intros are still as popular as ever.

Simplistic demos like B10 and Chimera get lots of votes for being different (yeah right and gothics are expressing their individuality - sigh) and yet sceners still think progress is important and we should all upgrade every week to keep up with the latest demos.

Flybyes ALWAYS get tons of "boring flybye" comments, so they're not popular.

Visualice and the Haujobb style is "boring" apparently.

Story demos are loved by some and hated by others.

Fearmoths try to make original demos and except for a handful of exceptions, they go over the heads of most sceners.

So what do sceners want?

They did not won Breakpoint, they won _one_ competition, ok, it was one of the most important compo but then again people like you forget the very good amiga demo compo and all the other stuff...

For the rest I can go with you, I ask this sometimes myself.
I often think, ppl were waiting for the.second.popular.demo or something like that...

shane even your trolling self must be able to guess that tastes on demos, girls, trolls and all other fucking things differ. so, perhaps the scene doesn't have one taste but about as many as there are individuals?

i want trolls to stfu and do good demos.

i want videos that are a mix of the out of space-video and budbrain megademo. but since i can't code and people who actually code think that this idea is too far out, i rather focus on c64 demos with nice and long scrollers that i read while i wipe the tears off my cheeks.

Shane, it seems you can't tell for reason or another what looks incredibly cool (hint: b10) from what doesn't (another hint: winnerdemo). Since you probably feel bad after having it pointed out in such a blunt way, I need to remind that it's not the end of the world. People have disabilities. It's nothing to be ashamed of. The important thing is to be aware of them so that you don't make a fool out of yourself next time when you don't get something which is immediately obvious to everyone else around.

I was thinking. People say that drunken sceners had voted for Metalvotze. When you are drinking, your state of mind surprisingly changes. When you are sober, you wonder "What the fuck was I doing there? Voting for MV?!?!? (PuKe)". Nevertheless, I have discovered today that my strong complex was still working while I was drunken and wondered about myself. And you know something else? I discover that 'THE SAME EXACTLY PHRASE Returns diferrent feelings back at you during diferrent periods' (that's all the sad things btw in a nutshell about the total absence of truth in our reality). So,. why wouldn't the same happen with demowatching? Oneday I love flybyes, the other day I find some of them boring, manytimes it was when I wanted to change my yesterday thumbs but I couldn't. And hell,. some days I even loved Chimera!!! So,. as I don't know what I want from my life (and mood changes each day, my perception differs dramatically (and that's truly annoying ;P)), the same happens with sceners and demos. And now let's continue by replying teh shit..

And the funniest thing is that even the simplistic demos require much more than they should (something like my CPC). I still remember the lovely Replay demos (what happened with those guys btw?)
