Searching for a .mod
category: music [glöplog]
The other day I was thinking about a .mod from around 92/93 I think. I can't remember the name or the author BUT I remember that the first pattern started at full speed at F1, which is quite unusual, and at the end of the pattern it slowed down to F4/F6 or so. The song that startet with high energy and the samples sounded very professional. I don’t think I heard it in any demo, only had the .mod back in the days. Any ideas?
anything slightly more specific? like, i dunno, genre? :D
The genre was something like »electronic« which is so nonspecific in terms of demoscene-music that I didn’t named it in the first place.
Condom Corruption.
bananaspl.mod
also, there are literally a gazillion mods released around that time (I remember havind CD-ROMs filled to the brim with mods and sometimes finding one and then losing it and *never* being able to find it again) so good luck :D
i was thinking dizzy-banana split too, but.. ;)
@okkie: No, not »Condom Corruption« or »bananaspl.mod«. But thanks for your suggestions. If I could only remember the title. It's somewhere in my brain but won’t come out. :o)
Just go to any demo party, you'll find mod doing the live stream, making bacon and generally being awesome.
You might as well add that the song had four channels, it was *probably* made on Amiga, and the filename ended with ".mod". :)
Anyone got a script to go through a file collection and check for a certain set of characters within a certain range of bytes? Assuming the F01 command can be found in the first row of the first pattern.

phoenix: Actually, if it was a proper amigamod then the filename probably _started_ with "mod." :)
phoenix: Should be simple enough to write, at least for .MOD.
I have planned on writing something similar, which would let you search for melodies in any kind of module files, similar to what lft has written for the HVSC. Haven't started working on it yet, though...

Remember the melody? Grab a mic and hum/sing/whistle it, worked for me at least once when I was looking for a name of the track ;)
@phoenix: I know my »description« is not very specific, but the F1-thing is the only remarkable thing I can remember about the .mod
@gooby: Yes, I remember the melody. But no, I cannot sing it. :)

Found it! »Zikend« by NHP.
oh that. also known as follow it and spirit of nonsense, used in spirit of nonsense and sampling paula abdul (of all people) :)
Thanks reed for the infos. Didn't know it was used in a prod.
Uplifting module, I must say.
:)
:)
I can't help it, but the samples remind me too much of 4mat's in the kitchen - now if samples were bubbles...!
