What's the story behind the Plastic PS3 demo?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
We totally watched it at Outline!!! Great looking tech, cheesy as hell story, but you're forgiven for it looked sweet as heck! :)
Oh, and the crowd loved it and Knoekie screamed "best demo ever!"
Bonzaj: constantly? LOL :) i saw it at the Outline stream thats all.. google did the rest.. looking great though!
okkie: heh I'm glad that Maali didn't got drunk to show it :D. the demo is fully packed with Japanese references so I'm glad that he liked it :). The final explosion is 1to1 frame by frame ripoff from Akira :)
bonzaj: we played it right after the demo compo @ MAIN. ppl loved it (me too)
yesss !!!!! really impressive cat :)
where can i download this catzilla ?
Hello, we will be starting a second pass of beta tests of "Catzilla" this week (around Wednesday). If you want to join please drop me a line and I will add you to a mailing list. bonzaj {atatsts} kolos.math.uni.lodz.pl
Catzilla will be a commercial benchmark, but we did it completely with demoscene style (it even has greetings ;) ). For my current life situation it was the only way to make a proper demo again. The story is...
A year ago a small polish company contacted us that they were granted an EU donation for making a PC testing software. They asked if we would like to make the actual benchmark side (they take care of the UI, webpage, test analysis etc.) So we started with the code around April, and in June with gfx. Gloom is responsible for the great soundtrack and SFX. Without the grant it would be impossible to get close to 3dMark, but we will see how it will turn out :).
So if you want to lay your hands on it before the launch (it will be distributed in the similar fasion as 3d mark, so it will be free to watch) then write me a line.
The minimum requirements are:
hardware:
x86 or x64 type processor
GF8x00 (256MB VRAM)
1GB RAM
~400MB HDD
system:
currently vista and win7 (32bit & 64 bit) only. We have version running both in opengl and DX11, but we need to pack XP version.
My question is: how many of you have XP and compatible hardware and would like to see it.
We look mostly for the following configurations - low end PC's notebooks, laptops that meet the minimum specs. High end PC's with SLI (triple, quad) or crossfire.
Thanks!

bonzaj: I'd like to test it on a laptop :) (also have a desktop with XP and the trusty 8800 sponsored by NVidia, but I guess that's out of scope ;) )
We would like to show this at TRSAC if allowed, and if it not already released by then.

Puryx: the nvidia rig has been tested already a lot :). Write me an email so I'll add you to the list. And of course I was thinking about TRSAC as well! It will be released around Kindergarden.
Argh I forgot to mention that Intel HD graphics and ATI from HD2xxx are also supported!!
Yeah, I'm waiting for the XP version, but you already know that! :)
omg (3x)
will it be uploaded to pouet?
will it be uploaded to pouet?
pista: I believe it would be smashed like ro.me so no. On the other hand I'll try to make it creative commons in two or three years, depending on our publisher. Without opening it, it will perish. The code is also quite clean this time so we may open it as well in some time because it makes sense :).
Don't tell Bonzaj, but I managed to get an EXCLUSIVE SCREENSHOT from "Catzilla" this morning!
Heh actually the picture iis pretty accurate :)
(I laughed my ass off when I saw it :)
haha :)
@bonzaj: I can test the xp version on a few low end pcs. :)
pista: I'll remember that - we need to rip off the DX11 stuff first :)
Never got to see it, but would love to test it.
Only have a laptop capable of DX10.

Gloom.. suck a fake :)
This is before the militairy show up and before catzilla uses his raygun eyes and the city is in debris because of the nasty aliens appearing from nowhere out of the sky!

@magic: that's a pretty funny coincidence, because i randomly hacked this picture togther a few weeks ago:
I guess I must have seen that other picture some time and had it lodged in my memory without me realising it!
