If only it wasn't a 12 hour drive, without the breaks, I'd be there. Last year was close, had already taken holiday around the usual time, but then it got canceled - which hit you guys harder than us, I guess.
Where's the wormhole guy when you need him?

Is there going to be a guarded cloakroom or similar? This came to mind since we're supposed to take only cash to partyplace (since cards are not accepted) and drinking / eating all weekend may get pricey, so I personally don't feel that comfortable leaving 100+ euros in cash lying somewhere while I'll in be in the pool / playing beach volley / etc.

I know, "it's demoscene" and at bigger parties you can leave your expensive Macbook lying around and nobody will touch it, but cash money is easier to lose than a computer :/ Maybe I'm being just paranoid, but still.

wont make it, due to financial issues i gathered in the last 15 years, which are hitting back now that my bank-account is looking healthy finally. :(

so let me wish you all a superb party and be sure i really hate how i wont make it to party with you french nicepeeps again!

i just can tell everyone here: Main is the best Party i ever went to, and i went there multiple times already ;) dont miss it, if you dont have to!!!
hardy... that's absolutly a point to think more about adding remote entrys on the demopartys... the contributions getting more less imho.

don't know who made that rule to be on each party to release something there...

but i know what organizers think... remote entrys could reduce the visitors to the partys and reduce finaly the recouping through the entrance fees.

organizers of smaller parties wouldnt offer remote-attendance if this would hurt their party!
financing is thru sponsorship plus beer normally anyway! the entrance is calculated by 2/3rds of last years visitors. thats all that goes into the calculum!
We have currently one seat free in a minibus leaving Paris (CDG airport) on Friday around noon, arriving to party around 18-20:00 in the evening. Leaving Avignon around noon on Sunday, back at the airport around 18-20:00.

Might be able to pick someone up if they happen to be on our route - we'll be travelling A6 & A7 so at least Lyon is on the way.

I don't think that organizers think that half of the scene consists of assholes and sofasceners. :)
saga musix.. hm.. i don't think, that somebody is an asshole, because he could not travel to each party. don't know where you got your infos about the demoscene, but the demoscene is not only drinking and partying...

You are contradicting yourself here when you say that organizers think that remote could reduce the number of real visitors. If the person cannot visit anyway, how would allowing remote entries change anything in that situation?
(for the organizers, that is, not for the person in question, who might have a super awesome entry)

i can assure you first hand that this is not true. we made 0 euros in beer-sales at evoke for the last 4 years. sponsorship was never more than, say, 15-20% in the last 3-4 years either.

not dissing remote entries here, since i do not think that they hold back people from coming to demoparties...just pointing out that your calculation is flawed. at least for evoke.

and we love our sponsors and supporters regardless!

saga musix: it doesn't change the situation of the person which can not enter the party.. but it change the situation, that partys running with only 10 entrys and fewer... :) however... don't wanna discuss too much now.

wish all visitors at main party much fun. :)

Yes, no need to discuss anything here, because you pretty much misunderstood what I was saying.
steam: it's true for other parties as well. tUM and Revision aren't financed with sponsoring and beer. Although that would be awesome :D

aw.. saga musix... maybe it's possible for you to explain a bit better for an old ghettoscener like me...

This is the part I was quoting. And then you are suddenly talking about people who can't make it to the party anyway (let's put them in the "sofasceners" category). And then there are the other people, who I was focussing on, which you say are the people organizers supposedly think about... Which is also far from being the (whole) truth I think.
accepting remote entries will never hurt a party but only make it more popular.
the only reason to not accept remote entries is when the party is so big already that it would result in even more preselection (and thus be unfair to either side).
correct me if im wrong?

it's not fair when you get prizes. that's true. i remember the remote entrys at buenzli .. i got the #1 place and i think the #2 or #3 place got the prize because he was there... that's completly ok for me.
added on the 2012-09-11 02:34:12 by .. ..
our rule at TRSAC is very simple: Be there to receive your prize, or be there not, and we mail it to yo ass.

Had we had any silly prices like money (for those not in the know, we give our ducks made of solid bronze, silver and gold, allegedly), we would have changed that rule to: Be there to receive your prize, or have someone there to collect it, or do not receive your prize.

With that in mind, I totally fail to see how accepting remote entries can hurt a small party. It's not like anyone is thinking "hmmm yeah, I'll spend a month doing this demo, but damned if I wanna be there when its shown, I cant be arsed with that" - if people want to support and do prods, more power to them.

a vign non: no vine (en), keine Rebe (de)

pouetfish FTW!
