PouëtCochon - demo downloader/organizer/viewer tool for Firefox

category: general [glöplog]
So I did a bit of skunkworking this weekend and implemented a project I've been wondering about for a long time. Hopefully this'll make watching the actual demos interesting again.

I an I present to you http://pouetcochon.googlecode.com/files/pouetcochon-1.0.xpi, a Firefox plugin to download, organize and watch demos.

Here's how it works

Step 1: You install the plugin and visit a prod page - you get a new link:

Step 2: You click the link, and the demo starts downloading - the target path is generated from the demo's metadata, like party or group name.

Step 3: The downloaded demo is (optionally) extracted to it's own folder:

Step 4: The extracted demo is ran for your pleasure \o/

Project plans

None. Stuff's open source (obviously) and here's a Google code project for it as well. Feel free to offer your services to fix stuff or add new features because I won't. I spent all the time I wanted on it, and I'm not exactly a fan of Javascript OR XUL.

Enjoy!

Code: var snort = [ "*oink*", // en "*röff*", // hu "*groin*", // fr "*grunz*", // de "*grunz*", // de "*röh*", // fi "*øf*", // dk

Hrhr. Nice touch. ;)

xernobyl: What Gargaj said.
As for porting it to Opera, we're out of luck for now wrt WRITE file access.

is it even possible to do this under chrome? can chrome do zip unpacking / process execution natively?
added on the 2012-08-22 15:21:22 by Gargaj Gargaj
Doesn't have to be native. There are zip/unzip libs in JS.
