A question for the Brazilians
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Are you there? Do we have a demoscene? Does it want a demoparty?
i'm not brazilian at all...

oh. danguafer... it's you. didn't see... never mind *lol*
princetOM, loool :D
I'm asking that because I've been trying to contact two hackerspaces with potential interest in helping me with the party (let me say "meeting") organization and anyone is giving a shit about it. So, MAYBE, it's time to accept that we don't really have a demoscene here and move on.
That's why I need to know if I am alone or not.

If you move on, move to Scandinavia. We've got sceners and parties enough to go around ;)
Wouldn't that mean that Scandinavians should export sceners to Brazil to keep a balance though?
Just woke up from a great night out in Lapa - met some beautiful women, had a mob of street kids attempting to rob me (and failing of course), and drank a bunch of cachaca. Why anyone would choose to sit at home coding demos over this pristine life experience is beyond me!!!
OK, jokes aside...
I think that, maybe, it would be better if you focused on making your own scene experience spectacular, and then maybe keeping a blog about it in Portuguese. I know that producing a party can be enjoyable in itself (in its own masochistic way), but I think that now is not the time.
So buying a projector? Buy a ticket to Europe instead. Writing a party website? Do a demo instead. Focus on giving yourself the greatest scene-joy you can have, and then see if it inspires someone to do the same. I dare you!
(Also, next time you see Juliano, give him a pad on the chest from me, he's the man)

That's also our excuse. And in Spain also, I bet.
What Gargaj said :P
Lord Graga: Looks like you are learning to be malandro haha :D I will see him tomorrow, maybe. I don't know if he is in Salvador yet. :)

I bet there are lots of people in Brazil who would be into the scene if they only knew what it was.
That's the case here, I can tell you.
So the key? Outreach. Identify potential audiences, and ASSIMILATE THEM.
Like the Borg, only not so much with the brainwashing and cybernetic implants.

YOU WILL BE INEBRIATED.
with google glasses you too can be a grotesque cyborg!
I know, not quite the same if the fleshcrafting doesn't come into it.
(shoutout to WOD players who recognize the term above)
Seriously though, Danilo, the scene where you are may not look like the one in Europe, just as the one here doesn't. And even in Europe it varies from region to region.
It's not just about finding sceners, it's about finding FUTURE SCENERS. : D
(students are good for this because they're still young ^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hand have squishy brains

ALL THESE YEARS ON POUET and first time I'm thinking: "this is a fucking genius idea!"
metoikos: I'm applying that megademo idea I've been discussing in the group, it seems to be working so far. :) I hope I can stimulate the demo production with that.
you have to recruit new people, not just work within existing groups of sceners. That is what kills the scene.
Working on a demo is great. Bringing people together to do that is great.
But outreach is key.

you can't outreach without a good example though. good releases are equally as important.
Menos samba e mais trabalhar!
ham: hahaha xD
metoikos: We have 7 members in the group that never released a demo before.
And I've realized that a suck pretty much in outreaching. But I will keep my mind open and try new things.
