keyboards for coders
category: offtopic [glöplog]
this one as well:
I Very studied the best keyboards for coders, so there are Multiple ones i like.
First, my legendary Model M, i very like it but for long time coding it is not the best.
The Keys are to hard for me so Model M is not as good as everyone say.
The Happy Hacking Lite
Also one of my keyboards, i use them at work but the lite version is not that good
but the keymap is almost the best!
The Happy Hacking Pro
It uses the Cherry Blue keys, klicking like Model M but a bit softer.
I Ordere them and waiting until i can test but i think the cherry keys are a bit
easyer to stroke than IBMs one :)
The Apples one.
Yep, apples keysboards are also nice to type but the keymap is almost unusable
so they lost and i would never use them...
THE DELL STANDARD WORKSTATION KEYBOARDS:
Hell Yeah!
Dells keyboards (the actual workstation ones) Rocks asses!!
of course i very like them!
Regarding to the Sun Keyboard bost
Eh, are you kidding me?
Suns keyboard looks very cool but in fact it is one of the badesty keyboards i ever used.

Apple keyboards.
You get no windows for your home.
There is no end in sight.
You get options but no control.
And your alternate key is placed... alternatively.
But. Help is but a key-press away!

old old Sun, Ibm and Cherry keyboards had just the right feeling+sound. Miss them.
Silicum: we have a shitload (like, thousands) of those at work. I kind of like the design, but to type on.. urgh :(
For me, the ultimate would be the current mac wired keyboard, except with a normal layout. Actually, no, a layout somewhere between the mac + pc ones.. the PC layout has way too much legacy crap on it.
Or an olden sun/ibm/cherry like neoneye said, with the true mechanical click <3

We should make a Keyboard Competition at Revision!
Anyone is hired to bring his best coding keyboards and then we can compare at large!!

neoneye: the right feel+sound is still present in Matias Tactile Pro 2.0
Pretty expensive tho, and is seriously disapproved by my wife, because of the sound :) however i'm loving it...

(oh, they even have Tactile Pro 3.0? The evolution is incredible...)
@FooLman cool. I have added it to the top of my wish list :-)
Does anyone here has tried a Microsoft Arc Keyboard?
These keyboards (and especially the Mac ones) are rubbish for any work that requires speed and dexterity; apart from the DELLs that rock!
Can't fit some one-meter wide monster here anyway. Apple kbds were bad until this flat design.
The RT7D50 keyboard is very similar to many mechanical keyboards (even that it's not mechanical). So those of you how like it will probably enjoy a mechanical keyboard (like myself).
I had my old Model M until it was involved in a coffee accident. You can find many of them in ebay.
You can find lots of info about mechanical keyboards here.
I know that the Razer BlackWidow keyboard is a good value for money and it has the MX Blue switch that I like.

my setup at work with my very nice typematrix 2030 blank keyboard :D
Topic reminds me of an article on Coding Horror: The Keyboard Cult.
I'm typing on something close to this (but with a big Enter key):

keyboard cult believers: you can order a switch samples bug over here (I know just did).
I'll bamp this thread next time I'm at a party and you'ill be welcome to try them...

Oh I love this thread...
This one is the best to type (and best looking):
..aaand you can put it in your dishwasher if it's dirty! (did that twice already - without soap-tab of course - still perfectly working)
