Protracker BPM Fix?

I decided I want to use my Amiga 600 to play some party-fitted modules synced with other, modern sequencers, and for the first time I noticed that Protracker BPM is not 100% accurate. Quick search, and I have the answers:

The team of OpenMPT implemented "modern tempo mode" in their tracker:

And here comes my question: would it be possible to implement this "modern tempo" routine to Protracker 3.15?
I have the sources, but this kind of coding, and amiga enviroment from this point of view, is black magic for me ;)

I'd like to point out that the OpenMPT code uses floating point arithmetic for the modern tempo mode, so I dunno how well that would work on an Amiga. Maybe 16.16 fixed point precision would actually be enough...
