Which was your first 3D accelerated demo?

Mine was Nature by Vertigo, which I saw directly on Vector's computer (I didn't have a Voodoo card yet by then) and I was quite shocked with it. It even had an accelerated DOS version!
It was Voodoo/GLIDE only acceleration, although you can run it with software rendering if you don't own a Voodoo.

(contour itself was sort of an unfinished accelerated remake of an unfinished demo we made for tp8. I watched that unreleased thing again some time ago, it's pretty ugly and it's mostly my fault, good thing it missed the compo =))

it was an 3dfx demo, i can't remember. it had a 3d scene and some lights. it was probably just a little demonstration to show of the capabilities of 3dfx. it was included with source also. but the first real demo i can remember was contour, and probably sunflower after that.
Countour was '99, the pretty often overlooked "Bleam" by Statix (Lionhead) used D3D and was ASM98... although I only saw it some time later.

For me also Contour / TBL. At takeover 99, my first demoparty hehe.

The earliest accelerated production that I've ever seen, is Final Reality (the benchmark, grandpa of 3dmark), don't know if that counts as a demo though :)

there was this takeover 98 thing from a couple of dutch guys (sorry, can't really say which demo it was) and something which I *guess* was a kfmf release in early 1998. However, the first demo where I could come up with a name would be Bleam :)
Still, the first demos to make me remotely interested in hardware accel were incoming future (despite it being crap) and wonder.

Yeah, Kosmic's demo Trip was, to my knowledge, the first to support Direct3D (not counting Final Reality). TG98 had a "3dfx" demo compo, which got four entries (including Complex's "Planet Cornball" and Purple's very obscure "Spacepussy" :). But none of this really mattered to me until I got a Voodoo 2 in late '98.. In '96, I got an S3 Virge with the stupid idea that it would be useful.
Shifter, it was called 'Shortcut' and made by Mystic Game Dev afaik, (it was Buckshag anyway)

uhm, I still haven't found any prior accelerated (glide/ d3d/ogl) demo before Nature/Vertigo (and i'm trying to find one).

Mine was also Nature/Vertigo, I was quite shocked since it supported both software and hardware -glide- renders. The coder was very young as far as I remember.
By the way, the group spanish lords made a demo -21st century digital boy- with a 3D player part that supported creative's 3D Blaster if present. I think it was Euskal 5 (around july '97?), but it could be earlier.
If I remember correctly, it was Nature by Vertigo. That's the demo that made me realise that 3d acceleration was going to spawn a shitload of boring 3d fly-by around the demoscene.
the first one I ever saw was platipus by incognita, those dudes showed me before the compo. I was something like...dazzled. it was better than all the crap that followed in the compo (unfortunately platipus was NOT in the compo, we know that story) and it was the first time I though that 3d accel isn't a THAT evil thing :))

My first was also Nature by Vertigo. I downloaded it and ran it on my dad's Voodoo2 1000 PCI card few years ago.

When I had first learned about the demoscene at 1998, I had a 486 and I had watched only older demos at the Future Crew age or even before. (These are what I found in an old CD and nothing newer) You can't imagine how much I was amazed when a friend of mine from university showed me some newer software and hardware ones. The hardware accelerated were very few, the first ones I had seen were Nature, Final Reality and Bleem as I remember...

My first 3d-accelerated release was "Return" by A-Men Pc for assembly 2000, before that just some silly Glide based test "stuff" under Voodoo 2 (because at the time was only using software rendering in my demos)
Optimus: Incoming Future is from december '98, we are talking about late '96 (21stCDB) and early '97 (Nature) demos here... And trying to find something earlier :)
maybe that some 3dfx demo that was released on juhla5 or maybe final reality can't really remember what was when.
After a long break from watching demos I saw Tesla/Sunflower and it blew my head away.
