Xernobyl: as somebody who writes camera apps, that last post of yours destroyed all enthusiasm I had for the pi :( With a decent GPU, small size, low power and that camera connector it could have been awesome to build a custom camera with it.. but without being able to hook in and take over various parts of the pipeline I might as well just write an iOS app.

Still early days psonice, if there's enough of a stink we might even see some future hardware revisions or Asian clones with extra features. One can dream at least ;)

raizor: aparently a 100% compatible clone will be impossible because of that same reason. There's stuff running on the GPU that's almost impossible to reverse.

It's all gone quiet because everyone's hard at work on their kickass RPi prods that will storm the scene at an upcoming summer demoparty, surely? :-)

I've not done a whole lot with mine in the last few weeks, although I did get the OpenGL-hello-world-spinning-cube examples compiled, and I reckon that a useful next step would be to get the GLSL Sandbox framework ported across so that we can start enjoying some shader-in-a-quad intro goodness.

This link (via KeyJ on Twitter) caught my eye today - flamebait aside, I wonder if that code could be useful for porting some classic-OpenGL based demos to the Pi? (I tried a naive compilation of Yellow Rose Of Texas using MESA. It wasn't pretty.)

I got mine two days ago, and I must say coding wise it's surpassed my expectations. Completely standardised hardware with flawless OpenGLES 2.0 without tearing or frameskips, and minimal setup. Feeling the same excitement as when I started coding on the Amiga or C64, at the moment.

I'm enjoying playing with mine, though coding is not my strong point, i'm determined to make -something- even if it's just a scroller :D

So, what's the best place to order one if you actually wish to receive it before next year? :)

RS have a blog post about current delivery status here - judging from that, if you 'register your interest' today you can expect an invitation to order by the end of this month, and to receive it in early October.

That alternative board is a cheap Chinese tablet without the tablet :P
I could find the shipping price (Royal Mail Air Mail EU: £2.70 5-7 working days), but I couldn't find the price of the board.
