it's a shame, as one of the biggest demoscene sites, this could be a good place for demoscene peeps to share ideas, knowledge and stuff. instead it seems like a place for idiotic 14 year old kids to post juvenile drivel, slag off every production that gets uploaded without giving any constructive critisism (as if they could), and try to be humorous with unfunny demoscene "jokes".

the whole site needs reforming.

While the pouet.net BBS is mostly only good for entertainment -- save for the long-running fix-it thread -- the production comments are half-decent. Looking at the comments for my first two demo prods, I feel they are accurate and fair. I don't disagree with any of the criticisms.

Except Spengler should've given me four dots instead of only three...

ps: yes yes you're absolutely correct, i do enjoy reading all the bullshit. it would be nice though, if there was a 50/50 balance of stupid shit and "serious" stuff.

bagpuss: there are other forums on the scene, not just pouet, the problem is most ppl dont know the other, decent, ones, apparently. like scene.org forum for starters.

bagpuss: ppl have replied to inteligent threads with inteligent comments quite often. just the ratio of such threads is quite low (10-25% maybe?) and the thread usually degenerates quite quickly.

either way, if you want to find out where to have serious discussion on which serious issue you can just start a new pouet thread asking about it and ppl usually redirect you to where to go have those "civilized" talks, and give their overall opinion about the subject. and if you ignore plek and stefan, and take a great deal of anti-feeling flamed, you might even realize the firm points behind some of the comments launched during the spitfire.

ok, this is starting to demand a "how to post on pouet daily usefully and not feel abused or insulted" article..
