decent module player for mac os x
category: music [glöplog]
hello,
I got Macbook pro and I'd like to play modules with that. Is there SW like xmplay or winamp for mac os x? It should also handle SID, AHX, SAP etc.

I'm actually looking for one too. I tried CocoModX (or something like that) but it was absolute garbage.
VLC can play modules - not sure about the quality though.
Not sure if PlayerPro handles SID, AHX, SAP though.
vox works pretty well :)
boot to windows
thanks, guys. audio overload looks quite good.
For playing SIDs on OSX, I would definitely recommend SIDPlay. (:
I tried zxtune and never looked back. It's cross-platform (Mac, Win, Linux, Android, Raspberry Pi) and supports practically all chiptune formats you can imagine (including AHX, SAP, SID, MOD, S3M, XM).
In comparison, Audio Overload does not support SID, for example. And looks terrible on Retina.

Check if the development of one or more of the following modplayer apps continued after the intel transition (I am running them on OS X/PowerPC):
- CocoModX.app
- MikMod Player.app
- XimpleMOD.app
- mikmod (command line modplayer)
If you have Brew or Ports installed building mikmod is EZ-PC.

But why would anyone want to listen to modules using mikmod?
BTW., in CocoModX.app's preferences you can switch between multiple modplayer engines such as MilkyPlay, BASSMOD, MikMod, and TFMX, and configure each engine with various sub-settings.
